Milla, your voice is beautiful!  I love your songs  :)  Keep it up!

Yes, I'm definitely giving a copy of H & T to my sister for Xmas, and maybe Harmonium, too.  I'm working on converting her into a Vanessa fand and I think I'm succeeding... ;)

Live Shows / 11/21/2007: Birchmere - Alexandria, VA (review)
« on: November 23, 2007, 07:45:52 pm »
I'm glad you guys are enjoying the audio.  :D  That was my goal in recording it.  I've seen so many posts on here from people who can't or haven't seen V live, so I wanted to give back to you guys.  Besides the fact that I myself have downloaded so much V stuff on here for which I'm eternally grateful to you all.  So thank YOU! :)

As for the quality of the recording...that was mostly dumb luck.  *lol*  The sound in the venue was pretty loud, and every time V sang extra loud or played really hard on the piano, the sound got distorted over the loudspeakers.  I was cringing thinking how the recording would come out, but I'm very, very happy with it.  And thanks also to the audience for being so amazingly quiet and respectful while V was playing!  I've never been to a concert where the crowd was so quiet during the music.  8O

Hey, Ms.Arwen, I do have a couple more pics of V meeting people...just V signing and backs of fans' heads mostly.  I added those to my photobucket album.  Check the 1st 3 pics... http://s77.photobucket.com/albums/j65/walking_in_the_rain/VC%20at%20the%20birchmere%2011-21-07/

This show was AMAZING!!

First off, I owe a big thank you to the Birchmere staff because I started off sitting back in a corner at a table by myself and one of the waiters found me a spot 4 chairs away from the stage right in front of Vanessa!!!  Believe it or not but even better than that was I ended up sitting with some awesome people and avid VC fans - Rebecca, Josh, V (for Villarreal), and Graham, and I got to meet Nicole (again) and Ghisy (for the first time).  I have to say, hanging out with you guys made the whole night so much more awesome!!

Let's see.  Highlights...

- V said this would be the last show that Skye Steele would be playing at, which is a shame because he was great and the violin added so much to the performance.
- She had a guest cellist on a couple of songs.  His name is Ben and he's only 16, but he was awesome!!
- We had a percussionist for NF!!
- After the show V was so sweet.  There was a whole crowd waiting at the back door for her to come out.  We waited 45 minutes or so, but she came out and signed autographs for everyone who had waited, even though she was sick and it was the day before Thanksgiving.  I was SO nervous when I met her I said something silly like "Thanks so much for coming to D.C." and I couldn't even look at her!!     *lol*

This was definitely one of the best nights of my life, not only because of Vanessa and her music but because I was able to share it with some awesome Nessa fans!!  Thanks so much, guys!

'kay, here's my guess as to who sophie and gracie are...

before the show started, my bf and i were hanging out outside of the pavilion seating area.  there were two little girls, maybe ages 6 and 8, dressed in black dresses, makeup, glitter on their faces, and wrapped in glittery gold shawls having their picture taken by a professional photographer.  the girls reminded me of miniature Stevie Nickses.  *lol*  anyway, when v dedicated the song to sophie and gracie, i just assumed she meant those two little girls i had seen.  i don't know why or who they were, but they were obviously getting special treatment.  but that's just my guess *shrug*

Thank you so much, Kulp!!   :)   :)   This is the first concert I've ever recorded so I'm still in the learning process when it comes to the technical stuff, but I did want to get the music out to everybody.

i was there too and it was great!!  i recorded the whole show but i haven't had a chance to listen to see the audio is worth anything yet.  i'll upload it here if it is... *fingers crossed*

i was kind of excited to see v perform "edge of 17" but she did "rock and roll" with stevie again instead and all v did was sing backup and i couldn't hear her.  it was almost like she wasn't even there :(

*edit:  'kay, here's my audio for anyone who wants it...

i haven't figured out yet how to separate it into tracks so it's all in one file.
