General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Re: Vanessa Appearances / Magazines
« on: January 06, 2015, 03:16:42 pm »
Didn't see this anywhere, thought of posting it here. Turned up on one of Google Alerts: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2896784/Vanessa-Carlton-bundles-bump-warming-black-coat-paper-coffee-run-dog-NYC.html

A dailymail post stating that a human being was doing human being things and wearing ordinary human clothes.

I'm just glad that some pap out there actually recognized her to take the pics which are simply cute (Don't laugh at that first one).

Posted 15 minutes ago via Twitter:
@VanessaCarlton: Started in England, finished in Nashville. Album done. 7 songs mixed. 3 left. 10 song album called Liberman. Pronounced Le-brr-min.

This just reminded me of the "From London to Tennessee" lyric from IDWBAB.

Nevertheless, I LOVE how she opens us up to these new artistic paradigms with each album. She evolves and takes us to places we would never find ourselves if we were travelling alone.

I can't wait till she fills us in on the inspiration behind this whole album! :D

Will have to wait till he gets a new handle.

1. I was hoping it was not a big deal and as someone said I too thought she was ignoring it. Cos honestly sometimes stalkers just want the attention.

2. I'd hate for it to be an over obsessed NESSAholic.

3. I hope someone does do something seriously. Just because she isn't TOOO FAMOUS to have a stalker doesn't mean its not serious. It's serious.

4. I hope the "medical emergency" wasn't actually cos this guy got to close to her or something or she needed to stay out of the limelight for some time.

5. It's idiots like these guys who make an awesome place like twitter where you get to interact with people you adulate a scary place for the celeb and I really hope this doesn't make her stop tweeting.

Sorry for the horrible way this thing's posted.

EDIT: Some NESSAholic (I assume) stood up to the guy and she tweeted at him:
"Vanessa Carlton ‏

@twolvesfan42 please stop including me on messages to that account. Thanks x"

They are so good. It's actually been a while since I've come across a band this good. Check out Pompeii and Flaws. There's a video of Flaws recorded at Abbey Road and it's so good.

Lol. I so love this woman.

Given that she maybe snoops around here, what intrigued me was Cantharides was written on the board. Which I understand is Spanish Fly which I believe is an aphrodisiac?

And Night Flight - The novel whose cover we were discussing looked like some of the artwork that was going around for bride..

I love that board.

Ok. Didn't see a separate thread for her. But totes digging her album 'Halcyon'.

I'm not a fan of mainstream music sometimes solely cos it's "mainstream" and I hate myself for that. This album however, is an exception. I'm all over the place telling people how much I love it cos it's actually THAT good.

I never imagined myself liking electronic music. But it is AMAZING. I think the production is done tastefully without making it tooo pop-y. You should check her out.

"Pines" is definitely worth checking out. The slower tracks are haunting.

I hate to compare but unfortunately when you're a NESSAholic, you tend to compare everything with V and I found the track "The Sighting" very akin to "She Floats" - themewise. (I also found Florence + The Machines' "Only if for a night" from Ceremonials kinda similar with regards to the theme of ghosts).

My faves off this album would be Avalanches and the Untitled Song.

I think if we try and listen to some of V's influences (I've been trying Hot Chips) the over all effect is amazing.

I think you can play around with your production so much it's really interesting and I think it's quiet adventurous since (in my complete juvenile experience of recording music so slap me if I'm wrong) acoustic recording seems to be pretty limited with regards to production and getting the right kind of desired sounds in the song.

I hope I'm making sense and not just sounding like an idiot who knows jack shit about recording (I basically am)

With regards to a title being "Euphoria". Maybe that's the kind of sounds she's heading for - dream like state-ey though I'm keeping my fingers crossed behind my back hoping against hope that I love this album.

I feel like a traitor.

Thank You so much. All of you involved!!! I've been thinking about all the great stuff that V had recommended and was feeling sucky that I wouldn't be able to get all of it.

I've only managed to check out Hot Chips and that song - Flutes is like crack. ;-)

I know people are gonna roll their eyes reading this, but if you watch the Katy Perry video for "Wide Awake"... I feel the references to the past in the HTB vid I kinda believe is analogous to the kid in Katy's video.

It's like V said, sometimes the cure lies within us. Something about our past.

Damn, its so cryptic.

Everything that everyone and said.

From the message there seems to be a hint of depression through a solitary hermit like lifestyle? I dunno. This is like Fruedian, double entendre, uber  metaphorically deep.

What caught my eye was that she was the princess in that enactment of the Swan Lake right? She wears white in one part and then black and I am a HUGE fan of 'Black Swan' and that bit actually stood out. But she is a BRILLIANT dancer.

SHIT.

So beautiful and graceful. I wish she'd dance more!!!

Two things.

1. Can anyone figure out the name of the shop in the opposite building. It should come in handy when any of us decide to stalk her. (Please don't ban me)

2. Did anyone else notice the bells hanging off the fire exit rail? Is it a... *DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN*
