Or she could be with her family.

She normally "spends the holidays with the family in the deserts of Arizona".

Whatever. What Vanessa has taught me is that music is at the end of the day a piece of art and it's something personal that you wish to express for the world to see and when people don't get it I'm not someone to shove my perception of this art down their throats until they agree with me.

This was a clear example of a bunch of wannabe comics. I mean they were just trying so hard but getting nowhere.

I dunno if anyone remembers what Vanessa said in one of her recent interviews where she quoted a line by Fran Lebowitz which went something along the lines of "Don't write if you don't have anything to write and if you don't have anything to say, don't say it" I think she was talking about song lyrics and this is a clear example of what these guys are doing. They clearly don't have anything to say but they need to say it and so here they are TRYING to be funny or something. It gets lost somewhere along the way. I mean the whole script style approach to writing that review? Please we really didn't wanna know how they reacted to every second of that song.

Honestly, these guys aren't even worth bitchin about. I'm out.

R & T tweeted about this sometime ago. Dunno if it's been posted... but WOW. At least some recognition even though she's tied. But I like the mix of alternative and mainstream artists in this countdown.

Completely Off-Topic / Re: CHRISTMAS!!!!!!! XD
« on: December 19, 2011, 07:36:54 am »
My folks have left for a "getaway" vacation this year to Singapore. Which means that leaves me with my sister (who isn't Buddy the Elf when it comes to much about anything Christmassy - she's already getting on my nerves)

But on a positive note, I AM volunteering at Church this Christmas. It's something new and I know EVERYONE hates volunteers but meh... I don't really have much to do this Xmas... I'm actually getting nervous about WHAT to do to make the day better.

It's funny how I used to be such a wackjob as a kid around Xmas singing in high crazy pitches and literally DANCING all over the house. These years off late have been so inverse... I feel so blech... I was actually watching 'Elf' the other day since it's like my favoritist Xmas movie of all time and I realized how we all (or well at least me) don't' have the Xmas spirit any longer... How we don't believe in Santa and the elves and Rudolph... I sometimes think that NOT believing in them is what has actually made them non-existent.

But I do concur with the person about V's music or well at least ANY Christmas music because as the Elf code goes," The best way to spread the Christmas cheer is singing out loud for all to hear".

I feel like we have seen this picture before? Is it new? Maybe I just imagined it.
I think we saw a behind the scenes shot with this guy I think that was taken before this one was taken... On the twitter thread, I think.

But yes. Her eyes. Photoshop much? I guess it's intentional. But me likes. =)

This version was pure melancholy.

It was so siren-esque. Wow. LOVED it!

I love how she tweeted the name of the book like it was a response to sarab's post at her.

AWESOME.

Could you please correct The Year of Magical Thinking? It says WYear and I got a huge peeve with typos. :D

Um there was that graphic novel... Habibi (one sec. Lemme Google it) Ok. It's by Craig Thomson.

It's technically a book.

So.

hmmm. NICE.

Two interesting points:

1. The bit about the cities and the whole letter bit. Very hmmmmm.

2. COULD SHE PLEASE TELL US WHAT THE FRACKIN SICKNESS WAS THAT SHE KEEPS TALKING ABOUT????? I HATE THAT WHEN I HEAR 'HEAR THE BELLS' I'M ALWAYS HAUNTED BY THIS SICKNESS.
Ok. No more ALL CAPS.

But what does she mean by health deteriorating? Why is she so cryptic? Vanessa please please please let this be something blah. Nothing serious. Why would her stomach ache? Up the stairs and the third floor?

Why?

Joey, I think she's choosing to keep that private. She's allowed to. And, a few months ago, there was an awkward interviewer that asked if she had some sort of depression, and V said yes. Maybe that's the illness. If so, it's understandable why she keeps it to herself.

Yea, we should let her keep to herself on this one(:

I know, we should. But I was just thinking off the worst :( . And I know we shouldn't think about such things. I mean she looks healthy. No serious weight loss or anything. So, it's nothing terminal.

And maybe yeah... the stomach ache is just a metaphorical way of saying something? It's just that HTB is so haunting (and I've had it on repeat over the last couple of days) and the words just... I dunno. It worries me.

I'm a worried NESSAholic who's typing this out at work. :P

But. Yeah. Poison running through her. Stomach aches. I'll console myself with it just being depression. And secretly pray it's just a song and nothing serious...

Or WAIT.

I've said this before. Maybe it was that dog bite. I've heard of people getting rabies vaccinations on their stomachs. So... maybe?

Wow. This is quiet a little monolgue I have going on here.

I'll stop. Please don't ban me.

LOVED christopher Pike and R.L. Stine.  They are the Stephen King for pre teen/ teens.  I grew up reading those !

TeeHee. RL Stine. When I was in sixth grade, I was so obsessed with these books, I read like a book a day for six days once and ended up breaking down on the seventh day because I couldn't manage to read, finish off my homework and live a normal life because I HAD to read these books... I find it so bloody funny when I think about it now... Fortunately, my sister noticed what the books were doing to me and told me to stop.

But yes, I think I've read like one book by this Pike guy.

Damn it. We need to start a NESSAholics Book Club.

A Thousand Miles sounds so far from the first time she recorded it. I love the plainness - there's some genuine emotion in the way everything sounds. And though I think that the Rhodes doing the riff won't hurt, I think V came up with the best arrangement.

To be honest, when I listen to the BNN version of ATM, all I picture out is this lovesick girl on the piano. But with this acoustic version, I picture out a woman in front of a fireplace missing somebody she truly loves. Maybe that's what makes it beautiful - it sounded as if it is true love, not the romantic one (I sometimes call it suicidal too) that the first version often leave in my mind.

(I just realized that there's no separate thread for ATM in the lyrics/sheet music section. I thought it was kind of weird)

Ah the word is fireplace.

The song sounds so cozy. It's weird maybe since the first time I heard the song (I was millions of miles away from the people I loved and I used this song like crack) it sounded like she was missing someone. This time it's like she's already with the person and she's telling them that she needs them and they'd walk a thousand miles if they could see them....

It's cozy.

I love her.
