Completely Off-Topic / Re: mature conversation
« on: June 30, 2011, 05:53:15 pm »
Like sarab, I sometimes feel very depressed. I've also suffered from quite bad anxiety, and in general don't deal very well when stressed (avoidance of the issue, smoking, a glass or two (or three) of wine).
This topic has actually made me think about how I've been living like this for years, and just haven't felt "right" or haven't felt fully "here" for a long time - I'm not sure if that makes sense?
What you guys have said about the medications your on, and how much better it makes you feel, makes me think maybe there's something that could make me not feel like that? I just don't know how to have that conversation with my doctor, you know?
Were your doctors/psychologists helpful? How did you start that conversation?

Sarah xx

I get that sentiment.  A lot of times I feel I don't belong anywhere and that I was meant for something different than what I've done with my life thus far.  Yesterday was the first day in a long time that I felt I was okay and that I prefer being where I am in life.  Not sure why though.

I too suffer from severe anxiety. What I have noticed is that after I am forced to deal with a situation where my anxiety takes control, I get very depressed. My family isn't quite aware of my troubles, so I feel like I'm just stranded when the depression kicks in. And it's not just after anxiety that I feel depressed; depression just comes and goes randomly for me. :/

Based upon the fact that they just put up another video for Dc, i'm expecting that this will b the next single. or maybe not? lol.... It's so amazing... :)

Maybe it's a promotional single. Many artists release songs ahead of time before an expected album is released.

I want Vanessa to ACT in her next music video.

I had an idea for "Come Undone" where, for the video, the song was turned into a musical in which she'd star as the protagonist in this old, haunting theatre set in England during the 1800s. The audience would be the clappers at the end, obviously. But we'd see the story of the song told on the stage in the musical.

ooh that would be neat. perhaps during the coda there would be credits or something

I have an idea for Fairweather Friend:

Vanessa's playing piano in a big empty room with a giant window-wall thing behind her, showing the weather outside. On top of her piano are pictures of her "FW friends". During the more mellow parts (beginning, 1st chorus, 1st half of bridge, etc...) the weather outside is sunny and flashbacks are shown where V and her friends are having good times and stuff. During the more intense parts (2nd and 3rd verses, 2nd chorus, 2nd half of bridge, etc...) the weather is stormy and flashbacks are shown where her friends abandon or betray her. Towards the end of the video, the window crashes open and the pictures are tossed around. At the very end, she picks up all the pictures, gives a worried look to them, and the video fades out.

I don't imagine bride in quite that way because it's not about being in love with someone else while planning on marrying another...it's about not marrying the one you're with because they can be happy and in love without the official title.  I would change it to be that she's walking down the aisle, making eye contact with the groom (Ari? haha) and they both have the realization and run out together to a field of lavender where he then serenades her with the guitar (if we want to be literal)

lol... sara...s orry... the serenading part was too funny... :) But i could totally see that! :)

hehe :) I meant it to be funny.  or they could just hold hands and dance in a circle!

With skye... lol.... :)

the childrens choir needs to dance in the circle too haha. maybe they can fit into the wedding also...

We should come up with music video ideas for Vanessa's past songs and potential singles.

For example, 'Heroes & Thieves':

She's playing piano in a big mansion and the doorbell rings several times while she plays. She answers it every time only to find the same guy in different disguises. Eventually she becomes fed up and leaves. She returns and lets in the guy just as he is.

Something like that. It would be neat if we could get all the albums :)

ones that really stood out to me were:
-sway - when the piano kicked in, the song kicked me haha
-who's to say - the lyrics were inspiring (thats cliche to say)
-annie - need i say more?
-heroes & thieves - couldnt stop listening to the 30 sec itunes preview :)
-tall tales for spring - crazy good

I would add up what you mean to me, but I cannot do the math

by far. it's so...perfect!! i might have to use it, like when i'm in a relationship or something haha

Ooh I'd also recommend 'The Cure' and 'Fix You Up'

I have a feeling that this book will have just melody + bass line. Hal Leonard does not have good transcriptions, and I'm pretty sure they did Harmonium's book (which we all know was a fail). I could be mistaken though...

IT's probably my favorite song off ROTR. Although, I am sad about some of the changes. The "gotta get by" part was sooo good.
