Anyone going to the last show of the tour?

So this is my favorite venue in the city and she hadn't played it since 2004. It was much different. Seated instead of standing. I was excited because all through Skye and Tristen it was so quiet and people were listening. People were excited for Vanessa and she got that elephant out of the room by doing ATM first. This dude was all, "You want us to stand up?" She said, "No, you can just chill." HILarious. I was super annoyed with the people chatting and after so long, I couldn't take it and had to say something. It took  some serious crisis communication for me to remain calm so I didn't get arrested. everything for me not to be arrested. I just don't get it. Why do you come to a show to talk?

She played on a grand piano it was nice!!

As I said before. I just can't get over how amazing they sound and the looping and layers going on!?! ????
The set list was almost the same but that's ok. I noticed even more cool sounds.

She didn't say she was going to come out which was okay but there was this young girl who was 15. It was her first show. Talk about feeling old. I asked her how does one get into an artist who's first album came out when you were born. She said, her dad, Again talk about feeling old. Lol.

I started a new job and am on Probation til July so I couldn't take any time off to hit any other shows like I usually do. I was super excited this was on a weekend and my bro lives in Portland.

I just can't even say how amazing she sounds and the looping is even more beautiful than last tour. So many layers and more of Vanessa's voice as well. She came out to sign whatever anyone bought so it was nice to say hi.

It was so great to see so many people and early. SF isn't known for getting to shows early. V looked beautiful and interacted playfully. She was excited to be back in SF!! She came out after the show which I was so happy about since I hadn't had a chance to say hello. She was sweet as ever and super appreciative for the support. She even asked how I had been.

Setlist was the same. I decided to try to record some songs. I am out of practice. Sorry.

I love you Portland!! The first 26 minutes was magic, pure silence, people actually listening. It was awesomely beautiful. Then, pockets of people talking. Super annoying! Vanessa looked happy and beautiful in her White Jeans!! I love that she is super chatty telling stories (the same ones but I am sure most people there didn't know them.) She's grown so much. My bro lives in Portland now so I brought him to the show. He last saw her when he lived in Seattle in 2007. He really enjoyed the show.

Setlist:

Carousel (LTF intro)
Tall Tales for Spring
White Houses
Take It Easy
Willows
House of Seven Swords
Operator (I had to poke my brother during this song, you know the part)
Blue Pool
Nothing Where Something Used To Be
River (messed up the beginning)
ATM (after she said, "People let me grow up, I'm a 35 year old lady, I wrote that when I was 16, I can still make that work" "I just keep playing that song cause I'm nice."  Which is true. When I was at the Seattle show some lady said to me, "Are you ready for a nostalgic night?" I said, "This is her 5th album, but yes it will be."

Was a fun dive bar show. The crowd was great but also there were those people that talk. So annoying! Awesome to see Skye up there solo as the opener. Vanessa was super chatty and told pretty much the same stories. She said her keyboard was damaged. It went via Fed Ex to Vancouver. It did during that show so she is using a smaller one.

Really cool venue. Set up like City Winery Napa. We picked a table in the back, by the bar ;) Had a great view. Ran into some longtime Nh.com peeps Jessica and Ghisy.

It was really wonderful to see Vanessa again. She sounded great and Skye accompanied her which is always amazing. He also put together some pedals with different sounds and beats to make a fuller sound and even did some looping. Vanessa's fiancé also joined for some songs. She signed at the merch table after the show.

Completely Off-Topic / We lost one of our own RIP Steveau
« on: November 26, 2012, 09:44:40 pm »
Not sure how many of you knew Steve but he was the first NESSAholic to meet V. It was at Late World with Zach. He was very active on the O Board and he was at all the So Cal shows. I just saw him in July at the Disney Concert Hall, he asked me if I thought Vanessa was still in the building.

It's all so very sad. RIP Steveau.  :(

What an incredible experience. Wow. The music just came alive. There were no sound issues at all in this hall. Everything was well balanced. The setlist was the same obviously since those are the songs they rehearsed in such a short time. It was short but definitely worth my fly in and fly back the same day.
They announced no cameras, recording, or cell phones. I only took 1 photo at the end and it was from across the stage.

Other Musicians / Katie Herzig
« on: September 13, 2011, 02:21:38 pm »
Ok, so I don't know why I haven't told you about the brilliance of Katie yet. I do apologize.

I found out about Katie late 08 when I was doing research for Cayamo 09. I immediately bought her latest CD and loved it. When I saw her live on Cayamo, I totally fell in love. She does it all, folk, pop, rock. Amazing! She quickly became a member of my top 5 and I've seen her 20+ times.

Katie has had her music on mulitple episodes of, "Grey's Anatomy," "Pretty Little Liars," "One Tree Hill," "Switched at Birth," "Army Wives," "Drop Dead Diva," "Ghost Whisperer." As well as, "Bones," "Samantha Who," "Burn Notice," "Brother's and Sisters" etc.
Her 5th album comes out on September 20th. Her music has been in movies as well as commercials for Honda and Target.

This song has been everywhere, maybe you've heard it??  :) Hey Na Na

You can find all her music on iTunes. Here's a link to her YouTube Channel and here's a link to my Youtube Katie Herzig Playlist.

She gives away a lot of her music on Noise Trade. The song now is called Free My Mind and it's my latest JAM!!

Here's a link to a video for the making of her 5th and latest record, The Waking Sleep which comes out next Tuesday, September 20th. Be sure to put it in your pre-order.

She also tours with Ten Out of Tenn. They basically are showing that more than just country music comes out of Nashville. It's a fun time. There are enough of them that they play and sing back up for each other. They each usually do 2 songs. That tour starts tomorrow. And her headline tour start Oct. 4th. She normally tours as a trio but it will be full band.

KatieHerzig.com you can also find her on Facebook, Twitter and yes, it's still the place for music and probably the easiest way to check out her music MySpace.
