General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Happy 8 Year Anniversary of BnN!!
« on: April 30, 2010, 08:20:41 am »
I know we say this every year but I find it so crazy that it has been 8 years. Wow! So many good times. So many great friends.

For those that weren't here at Nh.com at that time. We set up a fund to raise money to give Vanessa a thousand roses at TRL for her CD release day. We came up with the money and were able to present Vanessa with the roses on TRL. It was fantasitc. I have the episode on VHS somewhere. I don't know if it's online somewhere or not. After that taping she did an in store at Virgin Records. That was awesome too.

In case you are wondering, the following day, we went to Sloan Kettering Medical Center and donated the roses to the patients there.

Anyway. I hope Vanessa knows that we're all still here with the love and support and we remember.

I dug and found the 1 year anniversary thread. Too bad the photo links don't still work. But this does:

Other Musicians / Lenka
« on: January 28, 2009, 01:54:28 pm »
I've seen her a few times now and I think she's absolutely brilliant! Her shows were so much fun. She's absolutely adorable.

She's from Austrailia and started out as a teen actor. She then moved on to music in the band Decoder Ring.

She is now on Epic Records.

I'm sure you're all familiar with her song The Show. It's been on Ugly Betty, A commercial for The Gap. Her other songs have been on Grey's Anatomy and 90210. Here's a link to more.

Here is a link to my Lenka Playlist on YouTube.

You can check out her website here, her MySpace here and there are a lot of fun things on herYouTube page. My favorite is her singing Skipalong in the car.

She's been on a headline tour for a few weeks now but is soon going to be opening for Missy Higgins. Be sure to check her out if she comes to your town. You will not be disappointed!!

Entertainment - Movies / TV / Books / Biggest Loser Couples (Jan 09)
« on: January 07, 2009, 02:25:29 am »
New season started tonight with the largest contestants ever!

I couldn't believe the white team dude passed out before he even met his trainer. Crazy! But like I said last season. How can these people do so much the first day when most can can barely walk?

Really, 9 people sent home after 1 week. How is this BL Couples if there are only 2 couples? Lame. I thought the whole maybe a 3rd trainer would be brought in, guess not.

It's funny how the green team girl who is heavier is more athletic.

I love the preview with Jillian trippin' about how she has NEVER seen Bob that mad. Must be the silver bullet girl, huh? Haha.

If you could have picked who your trainer could be like the pink team did, who would you pick? Me? Definitely Jillian.

Completely Off-Topic / The Person After Me...
« on: September 29, 2008, 10:49:30 am »
I don't think we've done this here before (we do it over at AT.com) and I figured I'd bring it over as I know we have a ton of lurkers and maybe this will bring them out and join in some fun.

This is probably pretty self-explanatory, but I'll give it a go...

You post, "The person after me is/owns/likes/has/hasn't/etc. __________."

In order to make the next post, you should fit the previous description. Obviously you don't want to make your stipulation too restrictive or bizarre or it might bring the thread to a screeching halt.

The person after me watched a movie this weekend.

Entertainment - Movies / TV / Books / Fringe on Fox
« on: September 16, 2008, 07:41:33 am »
Anybody catch the season premiere of Fringe on Fox? A cross between Lost and The X Files. It stars, Pacey, I mean Joshua Jackson. You can watch it online if you missed it.

From J.J. Abrams ("Lost"), Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, the team behind "Star Trek," "Mission: Impossible III" and "Alias," comes a new series that will thrill, terrify and explore the blurring line between the possible and the impossible.

When an international flight lands at Boston's Logan Airport with no signs of life, FBI Special Agent OLIVIA DUNHAM (Anna Torv) is called in to investigate as part of an inter-agency task force. After her partner, Special Agent JOHN SCOTT (Mark Valley), is nearly killed during the investigation, a desperate Olivia searches frantically for someone to help, leading her to DR. WALTER BISHOP (John Noble), our generation's Einstein. There's only one catch: he's been institutionalized for the last 17 years, and the only way to question him requires pulling his estranged son PETER (Joshua Jackson) in to help.

When Olivia's investigation leads to multi-billion dollar corporation Massive Dynamic and its manipulative corporate executive, NINA SHARP (Blair Brown), our unlikely trio, along with Department of Homeland Security Agent PHILLIP BROYLES (Lance Reddick) and FBI Agents CHARLIE FRANCIS (Kirk Acevedo) and ASTRID FARNSWORTH (Jasika Nicole), will discover that what happened on Flight 627 is only a small piece of a larger, more shocking truth.

The Opening Ceremony was incredible. From the 2008 drummers, Thai Chi, people etc. Wow! And when the torch was lit. 8O

Polls / NetFlix or Blockbuster Total Access
« on: July 09, 2007, 09:20:44 am »
I have lots of free time at work and use both but am contemplating losing one.

I have been using Netflix since 2003 and feel a loyalty to them. I have had pretty good turnaround with them, a lot of times get new releases on the day, have a huge selection of indie movies and only lost (in the mail) 3 movies over the years. But...

I really like Blockbuster and being able to go to the store and pick movies out when I am done with the ones I got in the mail. But sometimes with the ones that are only 2 days I don't get to watch them cause I get busy.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / ATM in Zales Commercial
« on: November 01, 2006, 01:05:04 pm »
So I was going upstairs when I heard ATM (piano part) coming from the TV in my bedroom. It is being used in a Zales commercial. Not sure if they are nationwide but it's a jewelry store.

That song will never die!  8)
