Vanessa sang Bride on the Conan show, though she was on Jay Leno singing Carousel as well.

I had no idea there was harsh reactions about the song? Though I know people were having a fuss, because they didn't think it was right that there was a children's choir in this song. Something about they are just kids and shouldn't be listening to this song, [forgive me, I'm having a hard time remembering]. Anyways...

If that is the case, it is too bad. I think Bride would send excellent message (in my opinion at least). Seriously, the songs on the radio these days are 10x times worse than the little minor suggestions of this song.

If anyone could post it on Youtube, that would be great. If it doesn't surface in a few days, I'll have to track down the episode and watch the end. I'm curious as to how HTB fits in the show, or you know... Why play that song? I thought One Tree Hill was a teen-drama or something like that, Hear the Bells is a dark, emotional song, in my eyes it doesn't seem to fit I guess?

Glad the song got some exposure though, still confused about the whole Bride thing. V, You need to take the time to explain the situation (if you can of course), because I'm mind-boggled.

Just had a thought. It seems unlikely that Vanessa herself could have changed her mind, and I am not trying to accuse her, but perhaps the end result of the Bride video wasn't living up to her expectations? Maybe it is a risk she decided not to take? (Of course there is many other possibilites as to why as well).

Reason I'm thinking about this is people seem to be blaming razor&tie for the stop on IDWTBAB... I don't know, it is all rather confusing.

Oh my gosh, I have a skirt just like that! Like the pattern is so similar it's crazy, but the colors are different. They are more brighter pinks, blues, and yellows. How cool, I just had to share that with ya'll  :D

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / We can all agree here...

... That Vanessa is the MOST, AMAZING, person ever?

I just had to share how much I truly love her music, and how much it moves me. I've listened to her for a long time now, and her music has been with me while moving through something hard in my life. Her words and music is something that always keeps me going. This woman has so much talent and ROTR is deeply painful for me to listen to now, it's a work of art. Never stop making music hun! V has too much talent to disappear, so glad she is back (but currently seems to be in ninja mode, she'll come back eventually).

So yes, I'm sure we can all agree here that she is incredible. I hope this is not a pointless thread XD

Oh and who knew she liked The Dark Crystal? I grew up watching that movie, we had to constantly rewind the VHS tape because I watched it so much.

It's such a lovely song. I wasn't too into it at first, but I've really started to like it a lot more than I did before! I always find myself humming the beat of the song, it's rather catchy.

I have a question, what does "Fairweather Friend" mean?

I totally understand your initial attitude towards it. If you watch the vid of the premiere of the song, you might fall in love with that version instead :) The ROTR version is still beautiful, but seems more toned down, even a little less passionate than the previous draft.

From what I pick up whenever I hear the term, "Fairweather Friend" refers to a companion (friend or relationship partner) that sticks with you through circumstances that are good and benefit him/her, but drops you like a ball once trouble stirs. I'd say this one of the worst types of friends, merely because he/she is not a friend (by definition) ! Hope that clarifies  :)

I'll have to watch that video, thank you!

And thank you for the information. I was not sure what the word meant, but the way you described it, it makes a lot of sense now.

I have a theory about the bells! Now I'm sure anything is possible, previous comments and opinion about the bells could be right as well. But I was thinking more and more about it lately.

She uses the words 'Witchdoctor' and talks about 'Gravestones', it reminded me of Wicca and as someone said before it could be Wicca-inspired. Well a lot of Wicca and in Pagan Religious, Bells are believed to drive away evil spirits. Also the sound is thought to keep villages safe from storms and other natural calamities, bells also purify the air, and was caught me is they cure illnesses, and cure them if potions were drunk from them. Sounds similar to "But the poison's running through you".

I don't know, just a thought. This song is so beautiful, it really is and I love it so much  :D

This is great. I love your insight to the song; it really gives more meaning behind the lyrics.

Thank you :) Whether or not it is Wicca-related is questionable, but is still a possibility. Now that I see the song that way, I can't imagine it being about anything else haha.

I never thought about the 'hey!' in Dear California before. I like both, but maybe I prefer the one in Nolita, because it has so much energy to it.

Oh yeah, she said "Crystal-ish". I couldn't think of what she called everyone and it had been bugging me all day! XD Thank you for posting the video, It's nice to watch it again.

@pupmagic: You are very right! And now, we are prepared for next time. That is why I made sure to write a letter for her, because I knew the second I got up to see her I'd draw a blank! (Which I did, haha).

EDIT: Oh yeah, it looks like the back of my head! (In the right corner) (http://s1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc372/Onyx111/Vanessa%20Concert/?action=view&current=VANESSACONCERTWISCONSIN388.jpg)

Disappointed I didn't get more pictures. I'm the kind of person who take pictures everyday and always has their camera, but I have the most wonderful memory of that night though.. So it's OK :)

Pictures!: http://s1018.photobucket.com/albums/af301/Lynssl/Vanessa/

I managed to get a good one!

All of the other pictures are in the photobucket album.  :D It was so exciting! I still can't get over it! Every so often I go and look at my CD, to see that she really did sign it, because it is still like a dream.

It was such an awesome concert  ;D

I have to say, I was rather disappointed because the 'guards' were extremely rude to me. I was snapping some pictures of the concert hall, which I thought was no problem because everyone else was. But then they proceeded to say 'No cameras' to me, then she got another lady and they had to inspect my camera!! The other lady said it was alright if I got pictures, so I tried to when they were preforming but then another guard came by and said 'put that away'. What the heck? Everyone else was getting pictures!

But other than that, it was absolutely fabulous!! She came on stage and I started crying, I was so extremely happy. I think the girl beside me was crying too. Vanessa called everyone "Crystalfull" or something like that, it all happened to fast haha. She started singing Bride, and said it was the last song, so me and my mom planned that when she stopped singing we were to go the night shop as fast as we could! Made good time too, because I was first in line! And I even stood there for awhile before Onyx got there. I had brought the ROTR CD I had, and then bought a songbook there. I was kind of in lala-land and then suddenly Skye touched me on the shoulder, and as the manager guy or whoever was talking Skye looked at me and smiled, so I smiled back. I think my heart melted a little bit. Vanessa was super sweet and is so beautiful in person! I gave her a letter and drawing I made her, she said "It's beautiful! I love it!", She didn't open it though, I hope she reads it! Anyways, she signed my CD and asked for my name, then she says "Oh, that was my first best friends name, how pretty!". She even wrote 'Love Vanessa'. I told her how amazing she is and then walked away. Gosh I was so happy! I didn't really know what else to say to her haha  :D

So anyways, I did get pictures as she was signing stuff, they seemed to turn out well. And I did get a picture of the mirror. It was nice meeting you Onyx!! Your parents are super nice too. Did you guys stay after to watch Matt? (I ended up leaving right after, I had to get home). And it actually kind of funny, I didn't realize it until I got home. When I was standing inline BEFORE going into the concert hall, I was taking pictures of the line of people, And believe it or not I have a picture of you haha. You were even looking right at the camera! I thought it was funny. You should post that picture you got of the both of us! (if you don't mind).

@asnigro: They've been sold out for awhile now. I talked to them when I ordered my tickets, and they said there were only a few left. And that was almost two weeks ago. I hope you can find some! Be careful of who you buy from, you never know these days.

Sounds like an incredible poster lithograph!! I figured it was just like a regular poster, you know the ones that are rolled up into a tube and rip easily because they are so cheap. Thanks again for the information :) It's really cool that she could put something like that out there. All of Vanessa's merchandise seems so fantastic!

lol yeah for sure...i really want to try the chocolate everyone says its so good!

I'd defiantly love to try her chocolate, but I assume there is some sort of dairy or other ingredients I cannot have  :P Unless anyone knows otherwise, if there is no dairy/eggs? Hehe.
