Other Musicians / My Dying Bride

My Dying Bride was formed by Aaron, Calvin and Rick in the summer of 1990. It is a British Gothic, Death/Doom band. They are one of the three bands responsible for the formation of Death/Doom metal. (along with Anathema and Paradise Lost)

New album entitled For Lies I Sire to be released on March 23rd of 2009!

okay so my voice has been very hoarse since wednesday night i believe...i rested it til today (sunday) and its still a  bit hoarse....its better than it was before definitely!
I have been drinking tea with honey, many times a day.
Hot, steamy showers too!
and some meds for my throat pain. (given to me by the doc)

...now i think i can sing...but my sister and i wont win the talent show with the voice i have now! :(
Is there anything quick and easy that might help get my voice all the way back?? I have less than 10 hours :S

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Vanessa Carlton in Dubai??

Im moving to Dubai at the end of this school year due to my dad's new job..
I was just wondering if Vanessa has ever been to Dubai or if she is planning any shows or appearances there in the following years...??

Dubai is supposed to be the best place in the Middle East to watch concerts and attend celebrity events and stuff...Im rly excited and I hope V is planning to go there!!!!! :D

Just thought it'd be nicer to start my own topic about my band, cause i felt it was rude to keep commenting in DeeperThanSurface's topic! :D

So to reply to Ilivvanessa : "maybe you could do some covers of v, but with your own style or ask him what he would like to do, and maybe throw that in but with your own personal touches here and there throughout the song."


Today my drummer gave me a great idea...since I am becoming darker with my music...I'm into metal and stuff now more than alt rock...I should maybe sing darker music! I cant believe I didn't think of that :lol:

So i guess now we'll do Evanescence and Within Temptation...well the ones that I can sing without sounding too opera-ish (Within Temptation's vocalist, Sharon, can sing RLY high!!  8O  :lol: )

And of course this makes it easier to add Vanessa into my set list...
Be Not Nobody and a lot of the songs off of Harmonium have a dark theme and they are amazing to sing...now Ive just got to figure out how to make them into 'guitar' songs :lol:

Completely Off-Topic / Brevet-Official Exams...anyone heard of them?

Here in Lebanon we have to take official government exams at the end of 9th grade to see if were ready to pass on to high school levels.
We have Brevet-Francais which is what the French based schools do.
But since my school is English based....we do English-Brevet.

4 days of exams which include:

history (in Arabic)
social studies (in Arabic)
geography (in Arabic)
English language
math (in English)
biology (in English)
chemistry (in English)
physics (in English)


This year we start on June 31st and end on July 3rd
We get around a month as a  STUDY LEAVE (retraite in French)


I am so scared!!!!!!!


anyway the point of this topic was to see if anyone else has heard of this??
I think these exams are done in France as well...?? I'm not sure :razz: LOL

So, I'm babysitting my baby brother tonight....he's been screaming practically the WHOLE time....i was trying to get him to go to sleep....
the only song that came to my mind was MORE THAN THIS
so i started singing it

I swear to God!
as soon as i started the first note....he put his head down on my shoulder and shut up!
and then not even 2 minutes later he was asleep!

See...Vanessa saves lives everyday...cus i think i was gonna kill him if he didnt shut up and go to sleep....haha j/k :D :lol: :razz:

I found 3 shirts that are kinda like Nessa's Hereos and Thieves era....

A Black shirt with drawn on beige lace, it looks real though....

A white shirt with a black drawing on it... ( this is more like  Harmonium  or BNN i think :) ) :
A unicorn!!!!
A castle!!!!
A Forest!!!

and like other small stuff like flowers and grass and birds and stuff

ITS REALLY COOL! :D

And also a White oversized shirt with almost the EXACT same picture thats on Nessa's Heroes and Thieves CD....the woman....but its like bigger of course, and kinda cooler LOL :razz: :lol:

Usually i dont get too excited abt cothes
But this is Nessa kind of clothes!!! :D LOL :razz:

It snowed on the beach yesterday here in Lebanon!!!!
IT WAS SOOO COOL!
My house is like 10 to 15 mins from the beach and it snowed alot!!!!

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / It's a bit crazyy...but....

I always carry my Nessa CDs in my bag so that I can listen to them in the car or wherever I am and so I can show all my friends her new CD and make them listen to it :razz:
So anyway, I was at the eye doctors yesterday and while I was waiting in the waiting room I had the urge to stand up and tell everyone about Vanessa and her music...
But i decided not to since I couldn't see anything cause of the eye drops and I didn't wanna hold the CD case upside down and look like a total idiot :lol:  
But next time I'm out I really wanna promote Vanessa!!!!!!!

p.s: Just in case anyone was wondering.... it turns out don't need glasses after all!!!!!! YAY! :D

p.p.s: I told one of my friends at school about Vanessa...but he's still waiting for me to lend him my CD....I think I'm gonna have "parting anxiety" or whatever they call it :razz: :lol: LOL
