Vanessa Songs / Lyrics / Sheet Music / Heroes and Thieves (album)

I'm still a fan of V, but not of this album at this point. Which is pretty sad, 'cuz I've waited a little over 2 years for this album, and it's fallen short of my expectations... at least sound-wise and vocally. I was expecting something like HARMONIUM and BNN put together, but more progressive and mature. NF is the best track so far. The only thing that really wowed me was the classically-inspired bit on 'Home', which is the longest song on the album. I hope against all hope that V doesn't sing the way she did on HAT on her future records, 'cuz her voice was just a mess [as well as the protooling, production, and engineering]. It could mean her career going down the tubes. The album cover is haunting [it even scares me b/c V looks like she's gonna jump out and eat me at anytime], but I like it. The photos for the album are pretty lame, though [the ones for BNN and HARMONIUM were pretty good].

Irv executive produced, so the album has to be a little mainstream.

Imagine if the bonus track came out to be, the promo version of "Heroes and Thieves" (the song). I wouldn't like that, I hope to God it's not that!

That made me think: the bonus could be a remix or a different mix of a song already on the album...let's hope not....

I agree. H & T is the best Nessa album so far. It's the only album that I can listen to all the way through without skipping songs.

I Finally got the album! Spring Street and My Best are amazing. More than This and Fools like Me were a blur, though, as I was just getting over SS and MB.

well I am sure (I think) that Billboard usually does that like a week after a CD comes out.

Official charts come out Wednesdays, but they don't post until Thursday around noon. Charts come out on Wednesday, so I will look for it then.

it sounds very overplayed-radio-na-na-na-ish to me.

That makes a hit And she needs another hit.

I think that it comes down to the question of whether we want a radio-friendly 2nd single for the sake of selling copies or do we want a "Nessa" single that will make us nessaholics happy. I don't think there is a song on the album that fits in both categories.

No way, "Hands on Me" is the safest choice. Radio isn't concerned with what Vanessa's style is, they just want a radio-friendly song. "Hands On Me" is a born single.

As far as radio-friendly singles go, a cut down version of "Home" would be best. Although, I could probably do with HOM as a single.

I don't think NF did as well as Vanessa and Irv would have hoped, but it's not the end of the road, so stop panicking people. I mean, look at artists like Fergie, her first single "London Bridges" was a mild success, didn't get much radio play. But her follow up singles especially "Glamorous" and "Big Girl's Don't Cry" have been huuuge hits.

So Irv and Vanessa have plenty of time to churn out a hit and kick in some promotion for the record and the next single they plan to release. It'll take time for this record to blow up, you just have to wait for it to catch on.

It's not going to be instant over night success by any means. But Irv is a smart guy, so I'm sure he has a couple of things up his sleeve.

London Bridge was #1 for like a few weeks. So was glamorous. I think Fergalicious was like #3 and Big Girls was #1 also.

i hope wal-mart has that kind of jewel case. Although, after getting Kelis Was Here from Wally World cracked, I don't hold out much hope. :?
