General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Vanessa's DVD?
« on: December 09, 2007, 10:41:34 am »
I hope the DVD comes out soon.
I feel like I'm going to burst. I miss that night I went to the concert SOOO much, and I want to relive it... Since I can't go to any more shows, I'm waiting (patiently) for the DVD.
Okay, really not patiently.

I don't like the show at all, but I was flipping channels and freaked out because Home was on it... One of my favorite songs!
I'm glad that they are exposing her through this tv show...!!

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / No grammy nominations for vanessa :(

Although I've never really respected the Grammys, the last few years have proved that they are worthless. Somethings I consider barely music win.
*tear for the music industry today*

yeah so I waited a while (Long) to post any pics! well here are some

most of them are already seen since its of the stage and piano and same theme and such. The guy is me, the girl is my best friend Miriam

last one is me with the box of promotion postcards. We had about that much and a small stack of 20 more to post out the day of, the rest we did the day before.

oh and Graham Colton is a hottie!!!

So it was you I talked to. I had a brown coat on and I have blonde hair. I was with my boyfriend. Before the doors opened, we sat against one of the doors in the corner.

I want to go back in time and see it again! I really hope she comes to Chicago again, now that I am old enough to get there....

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Vanessa's DVD?
« on: November 25, 2007, 09:46:38 pm »
I was at the Chicago show, and they were taping for a DVD. I thought I read that they did the same for the NYC show. I know some fans, including me, got interviewed for the DVD.
Soo... Does anyone know anything about this DVD? Since they taped more than one performance, does this mean they will just keep the best performance from each place?
Keep us updated!
:)

I keep wondering why she isn't playing Spring Street oh well :-/

I've been wondering the same....
So does this mean they will copy and paste the best song for the dvd? Did they interview people there for the DVD too?

Haha, yeah, I noticed that a few months ago. I guess it is a romantic song, so it fits? I don't know, but at least people are hearing her (even if it is a very old song).

Yeah, it would have been cool. But I haven't been active in YEARS on the boards (I used to be active on her offical board way back when, but that was forever ago), so yeah, I didn't really figure it out.
I asked someone if they were her street team because they were passing out flier type things. I'm not even sure if she has a street team these days, haha. Was that any of you?
I'm sure we saw each other (those of us that showed up early and whatnot), but that's just funny how the internet works, you know?

I didn't get a rude sense from the crowd, but I sat on a couch away from the bunch. I did find it annoying that people were loud. I also hate it when people sing out loud. I mean, mouth the worths if you feel like it, but please... I'm not paying to hear amateurs sing it, I'm here to hear Vanessa! Obviously, the execption is ATM when she wanted us. I don't know, I just feel like it takes away from the performance aspect.

Anyway, I still can't get over the awesomeness of the concert. I'm still in awe.  :D

I'm not a violinist, but I am a music major, and I thought he was pretty good. I noticed him going low like once in the performance (Chicago), but that happens... seriously, he fixed it and it was all good. I thought I heard a questionable note or two, but I wasn't 100% it wasn't dissonance.
I think generally, there is a difference between classical (classical as in not just classical, but what we consider western european 'classical' music.) and 'pop' music today... If you judge them next to each other, it won't work.

I thought he really added to the performance.

. But Who's to say was trully amazing, def. an expierence.

I still can't get over it. I could feel the vibrations when she played it and... I just can't believe how emotion filled it was...
I sincerly hope all of you get to experience that or something equally as powerful someday.

Oh and Vanessa looked really pretty. She looked very thin.

She did look thin... I'm hoping it was a healthy thin, not a "she's on tour and doesn't have time to sleep/eat properly unhealthy thin."
I loved her outfit.
I remember everyone freaking out over her dogs being walked... I thought it was funny that the piano tuner had like a taxi like car that said "piano tuner". And when he walked by he was mumbling "piano tuner, coming through, piano tuner." I thought it was funny... And I thought that was more exciting than her dogs.

Does anyone know if she brings her own piano or plays what is there? I know it'd be a pain to bring it on tour, but I wouldn't blame her...

Concert was.... AMAZING.
I seriously did cry during Who's to Say. Not because it has a personal meaning to me, but it was probably my favorite song off of Harmonium and she did it so well. The way she sang it was so powerful... so emotional. I can't describe it!
I also teared up during More Than This. It is my favorite song off of Heros, and I was seriously so happy she played it... and again, she played it with so much feeling.

Technically, she played Divide & Conquer rather than Ordinary Day... Which I was happy about, because I always felt that was more romantic anyway.

SO excited about the DVD. I was sitting at the conert and thinking "I wish I could record this". AWESOME that I'll keep a copy of the amazing concert I attended. After the concert, I couldn't stay and around and try to get an autograph (I had over 4 hours to travel back that night, and we needed to get going), but as I was waiting for my ride, they asked to interview me for the DVD! I thought that was pretty cool... Although I'm sure I won't get on it, because  my mind went blank and all I could say was "awesome". haha.

I liked Park West... I liked the set up. One of the guys who was working we could not understand, and he was kind of rude, but whatever. I got pretty good seats! Considering they screwed us (They opened 2/3 doors when opening, I was at the third door. NOT FAIR since some of us had been waiting for HOURS and then others could get a head of us. but whatever). I got to sit on a couch, and I could see her and her hands playing so it was all good.
What I'm REALLY dissapointed was that everything I read about Park West said no cameras. I overheard someone asking the ticket person, and they said no cameras... But then they allowed cameras! I would have brought mine, so I was a little dissaopointed. At least there is the DVD... And those of us who got there early enough scored free posters... Woot!

So overall, it was amazing. It was my first real concert, and I'm glad it was so good. I can't stop thinking about it. I didn't get home until 3, and I couldn't go to sleep because I kept thinking and reviewing the concert in my head.
If you haven't gone to one, go... It doesn't matter how far you have to drive, go!
To those who went - did she give out autographs? I knew she was really tired and the weather was nasty, so I wasn't sure if she would or not.

Looking at my ticket... it says like what section, row and what seat, and a letter... but then says general admission. ???
Is that bogus or do we really have a seating area...

I've never been to a concert before.

Also, has anyone checked on the camera status?
