General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Time Warner Cable Commercial
« on: January 10, 2005, 02:41:22 pm »
I was just watching the local news on CBS and saw Vanessa on a Time Warner Cable Commercial.  She was singing a song called "Time Is On Your Side"... at the end she said, "this is Vanessa Carlton... (something else that I can't quite remember)" and then they showed the album cover of Harmonium underneath her & plugged the album.  I was so excited :D  Anybody see it?

Live Shows / 12/17/2004: HSBC Arena - Buffalo, NY - Kissmas Bash (review)
« on: December 18, 2004, 11:18:32 am »
[discussion]

I'll give a brief review of last night.

9 artists/bands.  First was a local band, called Seven Day Faith, they were pretty cool.  They were the opener. Next was Skye Sweetnam, wasn't feeling her at all, definate Avril wannabe (and I don't even like Avril).  Then, Gavin DeGraw, he was absolutely amazing! He sang Crush, Chemical Party, I Don't Want To Be, Chariot and one unoriginal song. Then.... VANESSA came on, of course I was estatic, since I hadn't seen her in over a year! She came on in a white dress (coincidence?) looking as beautiful as ever, it was just her and her piano, christmas lights in the background, and played "Ordinary Day"... the crowd was pretty into it, since of course they knew the song, then she did "White Houses," saying that she had to give us the REAL version, not the censored that's often played, again the crowd was real into it, singing along, it was great.  I was surprised to hear that the next song was "Wanted"... hadn't heard that one played in forever! The crowd wasn't so into it, since it wasn't a single, of course, but still there were quite a few ppl who were standing up enjoying it! Last, what else but "ATM"... and the crowd is up again singing along with every word... Vanessa wished everyone happy holidays, and commented on how Benji and Joel of Good Charlotte were on the side of the stage "cheering her on!" haha, it was great! I definately prefer her in smaller venues, the big arena definately wasn't her style, and you could tell, but none the less it was a great show!  After her, Switchfoot took the stage, they were pretty cool.  After them the show goes as follows, Good Charlotte, JoJo, Simple Plan (who I never really thought were all that spectacular but they put on a pretty kick ass show), and then Avril Lavigne (who sucked...), why they saved her for last, I'll never know.  We left halfway through her performance, to beat the enormous amount of traffic, of the thousands and thousands of ppl who were at this show.  Anyway, no Nessa spotting after the show, I somehow think she took off slightly after her performance, though I'm not positive.

Anyone else there?

Pics will be posted soon, my digital camera broke so, I have to wait til I get my pics developed from another cam.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Vanessa @ College

Soo yesterday was a Vanessa filled day for me... at work we were listening to the radio (in the education dept office) and it was a top 20 countdown and "WHITE HOUSES" was #19!! Then... we went midnight bowling at this place called Transit or something, and they have big screens and play music videos and... "White Houses" came on and I freaked out (of course, cuz I'm a dork like that)... and it was my turn to bowl and... I got my ONLY strike of the night while it was playing!  8)  It was so awesome to finally hear V on the radio.. and know that her video is getting played in places like that.  Yay!

everyone needs to check out Jared.  He's a local singer/songwriter... but he's gonna get big.  He opens for Rod Stewart this Monday @ Montage Mountain.  Anyway, I'm one of his "Merch Girls" at his shows, and I'm trying to help promote him.  Sooo, if ya'll could give his website a look at maybe even sign up on his M.B. that'd rock.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Brave New Girl
« on: April 25, 2004, 05:26:13 pm »
In the ABC original movie "Brave New Girl" Vanessa was mentioned.  The main character Holly, who got into Haverty Conservatory sings "pop music" and didn't make the lead in a recital and her TA told her... you don't have to sing classical music to make it (or something like that), look at Alicia Keys and Vanessa Carlton

HELL YEAH BABY! Those weren't exact words, but pretty close... I got all excited when I heard it.  And yes I'm a dork for even watching this movie in the first place but hey it had a V mention.

Completely Off-Topic / Spanish Trip To NYC
« on: March 23, 2004, 02:05:35 pm »
Tomorrow morning I have to wake up at 3:30 to be at my school at 5am for a spanish trip to New York City!  We're taking a shortline bus to the city while watching movies in spanish and singing spanish songs... then when we get there we're ice skating in Central Park.  After that we're gonna go to some different popular sites around the city.  Lunch is at El Quijote.. yum I cannot wait! Then we're gonna do some more touring the city then shopping at South Street Seaport, then taking the subway to the WTC memorial.  Then going home... all day we have to speak in spanish, and we're having a few of the other spanish teachers with us as well as a friend of my teacher's who lives in the city who is Hispanic.  I absolutely cannot wait.. though getting up that early is gonna kill me haha!  :D
