Completely Off-Topic / Donations for Sri Lankan Tsunami Victims
« on: February 08, 2005, 06:47:45 am »
I was actually about to go to my commander to volunteer to go over to Sri Lanka after that happened, but with the leg injuries I've acquired I figured they'd rather I stay back and try to heal up, I mean how much can a guy that can't walk a mile really do in a relief effort?........some of our guys from Madigan have gone on over there though

Ok, Tympanum's site is mostly up and running, it's at www.geocities.com/tympanummusic so go over there and have a look. And as you look upon the madness keep in mind that first off we're all in the military and also that we all work in hospital. What can I say, we have too much fun

Completely Off-Topic / We're rocking Washington state!
« on: February 07, 2005, 12:59:49 pm »
For all that live in the freezing and rainy state of Washington, me and my friends here at Ft. Lewis are beginning to play around musically in our own little groups. There are two right now, First off being my own little venture, a band that's starting mainly Olympia based called "Trying to Think" (Took Dallis 4 weeks to think of that........) and second is my drummer's other project, already well known through Tacoma, their target city, named Tympanum.  If you're around and you love interesting music, you should look around for us, if given the option, we like to play shows that require no cover to get in and as much as we try to get all ages it doesn't work sometimes, so 21+ happens alot. But we'll have the websites up soon, with mp3's and all, so I'll post them up once their active. Until then, everyone rock on!

Polls / Have you ever had your heart broken?
« on: February 07, 2005, 12:52:20 pm »
The key to this one is to know if it really happened or not it should be worded "Have you ever had your heart broken so badly that you were sent to a psychologist?"

Completely Off-Topic / Guitarists
« on: February 07, 2005, 12:48:09 pm »
This guitarist says that if you want a guitarist you really need to look in a time zone under the 90's........though the 90's did produce a good number of good guitarists, the emphasis in music wasn't so much on the guitar, as the arrival of rap music showed. Jimi Hendrix in 69; Jimmy Page, George Harrison, and David Gilmour in the 70's and Kirk Hammet and Randy Rhoads for the 80's; even for the 90's you have Dimebag Darrell...............of course, keep in mind, I'm a lead guitarist, so the bias there is understandable, but either way, compared to what I hear, those still stand out as "above" the rest in my mind

I got bored the other day, so having never seen any of them, I went out and bought and then watched the entire Star Wars Trilogy...........the holidays were quite boring indeed

Completely Off-Topic / So, you think you're having a bad day?
« on: December 22, 2004, 06:29:45 am »
yesterday was the worst day I've encountered so far since I've been enlisted; being the medic in the records room here, I had to gather or put together (when they didn't have the records here) six seperate medical records for soldiers from Fort Lewis that were killed in the attack yesterday; try going through a record and then on the sign out sheet noting the reason for discharge as "deceased,"  that was by far the worst feeling I've had in years.........

Completely Off-Topic / Steavis' "Work sucks!" thread
« on: December 17, 2004, 06:31:00 am »
working in my immunizations clinic was great, a soldier would walk in scared to death, he/she would give us their social and what would follow was us saying "You need hep A and B, typhoid, mgc and the flu shot" and what would follow would be them with an expression that usually was a horrified expression, I think you  have to work there to enjoy it, but it isn't THAT bad getting shots, alot better GIVING them...........nothing starts a day like ramming a long needle into someone else and injecting a weakened virus into their body
