He is a brilliant singer who has been around for quite some time  :D
Check out his official- http://www.matkearney.com
Myspace-  http://www.myspace.com/matkearney

I think his voice sounds like Chris Martin mixed with abit of Counting Crows but his songs are better.

So apparently she's a wild one and her single "Smile" is getting annoyingly overplayed in her home country England but luckily that hasnt happened here YET!

Anyway this girl is amazing, her songs are hilarious and fresh so you might want to give her a listen.

Yes shes our new Australian Idol and everyone is probably like "who gives..." but I wanted to make this thread because shes a really cool girl and I thought some people might like her because she has a Kelly Clarkson vibe to her.

Kate won Idol lastnight which was good for me because this is the first time my favorite has actually won so I was chuffed about that.

Her last name is pronounced De-rouge as in Moulin Rouge and her debut single "Maybe Tonight" is really lovely.

Here is a website where you can dl all of her performances in MP3 and video files, you can also find out more about her and look at some pictures from her Idol journey.

Hope you like her because Australia obviously does  :D

I heard this band on The OC so I downloaded their song that was featured in the episode- Portions for Foxes and I quite liked it.
Then I checked out their album- More Adventurous and liked them even more  :)

Their website http://www.rilokiley.com/ is full of videos, info on the band, photos and when you click on it you can hear their songs. I think this is one of the best sites ive ever seen, its really unique in the way the graphics do what they do.

Other Musicians / Rogue Traders
« on: October 21, 2005, 04:41:04 am »
Never thought I'd like a dance/techno band or whatever it is they are but their songs are just so catchy.

Some people may remember Rogue Traders remix of INXS's One of my Kind but since then they have added a female vocalist to their group.
None other than NEIGHBOURS yep its another one (dont roll your eyes because shes actually pretty good and is doing better than Delta at the moment) Natalie Bassingthwaite (Izzy Hoyland).
I think shes the only good thing on Neighbours at the moment and also the current top 50 over here because the rest is crap, I mean that Crazy Frog made it to number 1  8O  HOW?

Anyway back to RT, they are originally from England I think but they are concidered Australian now because they have been over here for ages, won an ARIA, are nominated for several more and Natalie is Australian.
Their debut single off their new album (released this Sunday) Voodoo Child did really really well over here; making it to number 4 and Way to go- Rogue Traders new single entered at number 15 this week.

Their official website has been revamped and they have added the 2 videos of Voodoo Child & Way to Go, you can also listen to their CD (not sure if its just clips or the whole thing) but its worth a look.
http://www.roguetraders.com.au/featuredInfo/home.do

I personally like Way to go better than Voodoo Child but VC seems to be more popular, my little niece Caragh calls it Boobie Child and her & her brother sing along to it lol.

Fingers crossed that they win an Aria this coming Sunday (an Aria is like a Grammy to the Australian music industry)

(ill try and put a WMA of Voodoo Child up in the next few days for you to dl)

Thanks for reading <3

Other Musicians / Johnathan Rice

Johnathan Rice

I first heard Johnathan's song 'So Sweet' on The OC Mix 2 soundtrack and decided that I liked him enough to search of some other songs.
It is so easy to compare him to John Mayer when you hear his song 'Mid November' and you can hear abit of Joseph Arthur in Break so Easy.
But on the other hand 'So Sweet' is far from John's style and it kind of reminds me more of an old Australian Band Lo-Tel.

Here is a little bit of information I got from a random website:
Quote
Scottish-born, New York City-based singer-songwriter-guitarist Johnathan Rice makes emotionally charged, literate modern music. Produced by Mike Mogis, Trouble Is Real spans the sonic landscape from folk ballads to psychedelic pop to full-on, punk-influenced rock. Johnathan Rice is real, too-the real deal.

On his website http://www.johnathanrice.com you can listen to songs off his new CD and there are also a few videos you can have a look at aswell =)
I uploaded 'So Sweet' (its a WMV file because I copied it from my cd) and 'Mid November' (its mp3) so if you would like to have a listen by all means download them because they are terrific songs.

I love how The OC allows you to find such amazing artists that you wouldnt otherwise listen too  8)

Other Musicians / Brian McFadden
« on: March 10, 2005, 05:53:12 pm »
Firstly Id just like to say a huge SORRY to Scott for making this thread, sorry mate *hides*

Well Brian was a former member of the boy group Westlife and it wasnt until he started to date my favorite singer Delta Goodrem that I had actually taken notice of his music.
When he was in Westlife I thought to myself "ew" but now that he has gone solo, gotten scruffy and grown some facial hair I think hes really attractive.

But anyway I brought his cd today- Irish Son.

I really like his single Real to me, especially the chorus when he sings "When I see my babies run, When all the madness has been and gone
I raise my family and live in peace, thats whats real to me"
Ok corny but it reminds me of my nephew and niece.  8)

His duet with Delta is nice and it brought them together so thats pretty cute because they make such a lovely couple.
He was married and has 2 children but that has nothing to do with his music so I wont go on about it.

Other Musicians / Sarah Blasko
« on: January 28, 2005, 09:03:31 pm »
For some reason I thought Sarah was American or from the UK but it was very cool to find out that she is from Sydney  :D

Anyway you can listen to her music here on her official site: http://www.sarahblasko.com
I can't really compare her to anyone and I guess hardly anyone here listens to female Australian singers who I could compare her too like Katy Steele from 'Little Birdy', The Waifs, Missy Higgins.
But then again she doesnt really sound like any of them lol, so if ur interested then just go to her site and have a listen.
I dont know her music well enough, i just love her new song 'Always worth it' and though some ppl here might aswell.

I'm not sure if this is true or not but it was just on the news over here that Jennifer and Brad have split up.

I think its a shame because they did seem like a lovely couple and well if they do get divorced it will probably get abit messy.
Jennifer was so emotional about the final of Friends so imagine her now, wow she would be a mess the poor girl  :(

Other Musicians / Natasha Bedingfield
« on: September 24, 2004, 09:04:59 pm »
Ok shes pop and many people think pop is crappy but Natasha is actually alright.
I liked her 1st single "Single" and this morning I heard her newest song (in Australia it is anyway) "These Words".
I can't get it out of my head so this is a good indication that I will probably start liking her even more and buy her cd when it is finally released over here.
I heard that she is the sister of Daniel Bedingfield but I'm not to sure because I have seen articles saying that she is British but Daniel is from New Zealand so I don't really know.

I will go and search for her website address now and add it to my post.

Her website:

MISSY HIGGINS
I know there are posts about her in the AsS thread but its been about a month since we added her into the thread and I'm afraid that know one will be taking notice so I have decided to make a thread up just for her  :D
Missy Higgins is a 21 year old Australian songwriter/musician/singer (as she has stated).
Here is the link to the other posts about her in the Australian singer/songwriter thread:
http://forums.nessaholics.com/viewtopic.php?t=2420&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=45
Missy won a radio competition when she was 17, the prize was a record deal.
Instead of recording it then and there, she instead chose to travel around Europe after leaving school and worked on her songwriting.
Her first EP was released November last year and was successful on many local radio stations but didnt really pick up in the mainstream charts.
But Missy's 2nd release SCAR EP was picked up by alot of major radio stations and music programs, with alot of hard work and touring Missy managed to nab herself a number one hit on the Australian music chart.

Her music and lyrics are heart felt and beautiful, so if you can PLEASE visit her super cool website http://www.missyhiggins.com
You can listen to some of her songs, watch her music videos, download wallpapers and AIM icons.

How is that for a sales pitch lol?
She really does rock guys, it might take a while to get used to her style and accent but she is Australian so thats how she sounds  8)

Take care
