Live Shows / March 16, 2009-Hotel Cafe Hollywood, CA [Review]

I would have totally flown to LA for this show if i already didn't have a flight booked to Denver for work  I even went to the extent to see if i could fly from Denver to LA Mon night and make the show, and then fly back to Denver before 8am on Tues... just doesn't seem to be working out for me.

I will be hitting up the NC show tho in April.  It's been way too long since I've seen Vanessa.

I'll be thinking about everyone able to go tomorrow night though wishing i could be there  Have fun Let and Nicole!

Hello

On Wednesday, July 9 in Des Moines, Iowa they will be taping an episode of Bonefish Grill’s Notes From The Road for Ovation TV... The featured artist is Vanessa Carlton.  She will be performing 6 songs and you will need to be there no later than 1:45pm.

No still or video cameras will be allowed since they're taping and you will be searched.

This is a limited availabilty show, so if you're interested and available to go let me know (respond here or PM me) and I can provide further information.  I will need your name for the guest list.

This was a *great* show.  The sound was awesome and there was a huge crowd.  It was all standing room!  The croc holds about 550 and they only had 56 tickets available when doors were opening!

Skye is the shit!

Highlights
1) She said she would only be playing San Francisco at the show in San Francisco
2) While introducing All Is Well she mentioned how there is always that one song that the artist should have included and she said this was the song
3) She told the story about introducing Who's To Say at the show in AZ where she mentioned sex with donkeys and how it made it into a review and chuckled that it was just a joke
4) Hearing The One on the Rhodes is growing on me
5) Skye is flippin awesome, he seems to have learned almost all of the music and hearing him on San Francisco was pretty kick ass!
6) The show was upstairs and I guess they couldn't get her usual piano up there so she played another piano... I missed Vanessa's  The sound was really different to me.
7) The only way for Vanessa to get on the stage was to walk from the back of the audience down the middle and up on stage so there was a lot of confusion about what to do for the encore.  Essentially she just stood up and bowed and there was some pointing and shoulder shrugging etc and then she said ok, we'll play another one.  It was cute.

Vanessa came out after a while and signed for this long line of people and took pictures and everything.  She was so sweet to everyone.

Another great show tonight as expected!  The setlist is similar to yesterday but Vanessa debut'd More Than This tonight!!!!

The setlist had MTT then ATM but she reversed those two.


Here are the highlights for me since I haven't posted mentioning this tour yet

1) Skye Steele is the violinist... he is awesome!  I really LOVE going to the show hearing strings & piano.
2) OD w/ D&C lyrics cracks me up cuz it messes up everyone
3) Love the modified ending to Who's To Say, it is so hot.
4) She holds a note during Winter that is just AWESOME
5) Vanessa said "The coats of white all turn blood red" instead of "The coats of white all turn to red"
6) She takes a few notes up in White Houses which is really hot
7) LOVE the outro to Home... it is awesome.

Vanessa came out after and did autographs.  We hung out with someone new we met that flew in from WI!  His name is Jason but he doesn't post here... I am calling you out, Jason ... you better post.
