FAQ / Board Issues / ah ha!
« on: March 02, 2003, 01:04:14 am »
that is called an avatar.  If you go into your profile (Profile link at the top) and scroll down to avatar.  You just put the URL in for a jpg or something that you want over on the left as your picture.

If you need someone to host a picture, let us know as well.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Sorry to hear that!
« on: December 10, 2002, 08:22:45 pm »
It might have taken her a while to change... speaking from a womans perspective maybe 20 min wasn't long enough?  Most people that have been as of late have been saying she's been coming out a lot more to sign autographs and take pictures...

I sent you an email about the boot.  I'd love to hear so i was hoping you could hook it up.  let me know.

did you go to the pittsburg concert today?

-katia

p.s. i think it's so cool you booted the show... i'd love the details like... minidisc?  what mic?  battery module?  dat recorder? =)

Live Shows / 11/23/02 Atlanta, GA -- Eleven50
« on: November 22, 2002, 02:27:19 am »
So i ended up going =)

Setlist:
C'Est La Vie, Papa, Unsung, Rinse, Prince, Pretty Baby, Sway, Swindler, Wanted, ATM, Ordinary Day, Paint It Black

Encore'd She Floats and Twilight

(I think that's it...)

Very good show.  The band seems really on tonight and Vanessa seemed excited to have her mother at the show along with Let, Steph, Jason, Scott etc etc.  She kept glacing over at them and smiling.

She came out with one of her red unicorn hats on saying she was having "really bad ass hat hair" thus she was afraid to take it off.  'Bout halfway through the show she took the hat off after asking if she should a couple times.

It seemed like Jesse had some problems a couple of times -- for the first part of ATM i couldn't hear him.

Pretty Baby was performed acoustic styleish with all of them "in a round" -- very good version of the song.  Sway was incredible... she was walking all over the stange and singing... she seems really into it.  PIB was even better, she was kneeling on the piano bench for a while, then at the end she was standing on the piano bench.  I got a few pictures.. Scott got some great shots.  Because i'm on dialup i'm only gonna upload one but here is the end.

She introduced ATM in a similar fashion... A Thousand Fucking Miles -- then noted that her mother wouldn't be happy she just said that.  She said how she missed maggie (her dog) but couldn't bring her on the bus as she'd shit all over the place.

Nate -- that man is crazy.  He was breaking sticks right and left and flinging them into the crowd.  Jesse threw several pics into the crowd (i got one) and Sasha was his usual cool self making the bass playing seem effortless.

Hung out with Nate and Mike after the show with a bunch of the local nessaholics.  that was a lot of fun

There were quite a few interesting characters in the crowd that kept screaming but it was fun.  Of course the entire crowd sang ATM and OD.

oh well... that's all for now folks.

Completely Off-Topic / 50 users?
« on: October 25, 2002, 02:47:35 am »
if it makes a diff, i'd like to see 50 users here as well... i think it would be kinda fun/interesting and i suspect the box could handle it.  my only concern is the 'forum chatting' -- it seems one of fullerene's best means of resolving their 'server' problems would be to setup a chat server or something better designed for chatting.  everyone one of those forum entries into a database row is a lot of the problem.  then to try to search through those rows?  oy... plus a horribly coded board?  i wouldn't wish that nightmare on a hated sys admin.

Live Shows / concert locations?
« on: October 25, 2002, 02:39:18 am »
the first was at an airshow with vanessa on a built stange in a hanger and everyone standing/sitting outside.  Cameras were no problem there... no one cared at all.

the second was at the college campus in towson.  they said no cameras or recording devices and were pretty strict (patting people down).  generally you can still sneak a camera in if you're clever.

i went to this last monday show in NYC and it was at a club.  they were against cameras and even had metal detectors.  I just had my camera in my bag, said i was a tourist and they had a section to check in your bags.  After getting inside and before checking my bag i took my camera out and put it in my pocket.

Once you get inside, if you are taking pictures i've rarely seen any event staff say anything.  I would avoid using a flash (it's rather obnoxious) and unless you're within 15 ft of the stage, it wont do a whole lot of good.  With the lights on the artists anyway, you can generally get a good shot without a flash.

hope that helps. =)

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / no excuse...

Yeah. Well personally I think that the regular maintenance is a good sign. It shows that they are aware of problems and are trying to keep things running a bit smoother by running maintenance scripts.

There are maintenance options with phpBB (which is run here...) and all it does is pruning of the database... deleting rows from the table after a period of time if configured to do so.  The entire forum isn't taken down to accomplish this task and isn't even noticable to users.

I think they should junk that shit and go with phpBB or the perl based forum... um i forget the name but it's good too!

Why reinvent the wheel when there are other people that do great jobs coding forums already?  Fullerene should be fired for having such a shitty product.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / good luck
« on: September 21, 2002, 11:54:18 pm »
i've tried emailing the admin and technical contact on the domain, the ISP and the street team... seems like no one is listening...

that's one reason i don't post over there, i think i'd shoot myself getting so annoyed.

What's with the nightly maintenance? :
This message board is temporarily down for maintenance. It will be back online in approximately one half hour.
We apologize for the inconvenience.

That's fairly irritating as well.:)
