Since it's the finale of Idol tonight, I thought we needed a thread about Carrie!!
Because, even though she may not win (but I'm sure she will! :P), she's gonna get a record deal for sure.
And, of course, I had to start the topic!! hehe
GO CARRIE!! :usa:

I know this is gonna interest BWilli at least: just in from thedigitalbits.com:

Well... here's big (and VERY good) breaking news: According to Japan Today and other sources, Sony and Toshiba (the primary creators of Blu-ray Disc and HD-DVD) have just officially begun talks aimed at uniting their efforts and developing a common next-generation, high-definition DVD format. No kidding. We may just avoid this format war yet, folks.

This is, indeed, GOOD NEWS! :D

« on: April 04, 2005, 12:30:42 pm »
Well, well, well, I thought I opened a topic about her but it seems like I didn't!
I just received her 2nd cd in the mail with the sweetest note included!
Her first cd was released a few years back (2000) on Hollywood Records ("Key of a minor", awesome cd by the way!) but she had some troubles with them and went independent for her second record.
You guys should check her music out: http://www.jessjacobs.com
And you can buy the cd here: http://cdbaby.com/cd/jessjacobs2
Enjoy! :D

Live Shows / 3/18/2005: Berklee Theatre - Boston, MA (review)

[discussion]

Okay, Vanessa was so sick tonight and she managed to play anyway.
She couldn't finish Ordinary Day and drank whisky throughout the whole show (mixed with something else) to make her voice better (she was surprised though and was like "Mark, was that your idea?" lol)
As an apology, she did a meet & greet after the show.
I got to see her, talk to her, I gave her the letter I had written but didn't ask for a pic cause I felt sorry she was sick (that's me, I'm stupid, I should have asked anyway since others did it...*sigh*)
It was too funny when I talked to her, it went like:
G: "Hi Vanessa"
V: "Hi"
G: "You know, I'm coming all the way from France to see your shows."
V: "You are SO not?!"
G: "Yeah I am!"
V: "What's your name?"
G: "Ghisy, I'm on the board. I have a little letter for you."

She thanked me then she apologized about her being sick for that show, I told her it was okay,  that the show was great anyway and that I will see her tomorrow in Amagansett and she said: "I'm sorry sweetie but it seems like it's gonna be cancelled, I'm too sick but you should come Sunday, it's only $15!" And I replied "but I am coming to that show!".
Awww, she called me sweetie!! *dies*
I got my ticket signed, she said it was nice to meet me, I said "it was nice to meet you too", she thanked me again for coming and I thanked her again as well. I said "Bye, see you in Toms River!"
Isn't she the sweetest person in the world?!

ps: she mentioned the Nessaholics during the show and I just went "woohoo!" lol

« on: July 28, 2004, 12:57:21 pm »
Hey guys!
Starting from today, I'm officially starting to plan my Sept/Oct trip to the States  :D
I'm not too sure of where I am going but it should be:
- NYC, NY,
- Buffalo, NY,
- Washington, DC (this one's not sure at all at this point),
- Los Angeles, CA
And maybe somewhere else in Cali but dunno yet.
I'm hoping everything to be booked within the next 2 weeks.
Advice on good places to stay at and flights are highly welcome :o)
Also, I'd like to know who's gonna be able to hang out with me when I'm in the mentioned areas.
Thanks for your help!

Entertainment - Movies / TV / Books / Shadowmancer
« on: June 28, 2004, 09:14:05 am »
I just finished reading that book and it was good!

Here's the plot (I took it on Amazon.com):
An apocalyptic battle between good and evil is vigorously, violently fought in British author G.P. Taylor's suspenseful, action-packed fantasy. The story, set in the 1700s on the Yorkshire coastline, revolves around Vicar Obadiah Demurral, a corrupt-but-inept, dead-conjuring "shadowmancer" who desires to control the universe by overthrowing God, or Riathamus. When two hard-luck near-orphans, (13-year-old Thomas Barrick, a bitter enemy of Demurral, and his troubled friend Kate Coglund) band together with a young African stranger named Raphah, they spend the rest of the book trying to stop the wicked Vicar as if their very souls are at stake...they are. Along the way, the three youths meet an enormous cast of friends and foes, some agents of Riathamus, others of Satan (Pyratheon), and some godless (but not for long) smugglers like Jacob Crane.

You guys should read it too! :)

And this is THE question.
I don't even have to tell my answer because it's freaking obvious...

« on: April 08, 2004, 12:37:07 pm »
No, don't look at the bottom of the page, that's not a member!!
The world-known Times Square is 100 years old today!!
It was renamed in 1904 after the New York Times building that became the cornerstone of the new district.
(source: http://www.timessquare.com/history/history_101.html)
So, HAPPY BDAY TIMES SQUARE!!!
:bday:
Here's a couple of pics I took in 1999:

I just got their cd in the mail today!!!
They're really good! it's a band from Hawai (2 chicks from Hawai and one guy from Canada) and they play "emo/rock" as they say.
Lani told me about them (thanks! ;)) and I've gotta say their album is really good! (although pretty short, 33 minutes)
You guys should check them out: (just click the pic to go to their website)  8)
