FAQ / Board Issues / Happy Days
« on: December 02, 2003, 08:14:10 pm »
I loooove signing birthday threads, especially for members I don't know or rarely talk to.  I think that happy birthday threads are a great way for board members to talk to new people.  But, there are some days where no member has a birthday, or members don't specify a birthday in their profiles.

I think we should start a new thing called Happy Days (or maybe even Nessa Days since we are a Vanessa board).  Each day a different NH.com member will get a happy day, and members can sign the thread with a little happy day message.

We could hold a contest for board members to come up with Happy day icons and signatures and stuff too, since everyone has been really creative lately with the forum logos.

Let me know what you guys think.  I'd be glad to organize it myself, or if mods want to get in on it too that's awesome.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Vanessa in New Holiday Gap CD
« on: November 19, 2003, 07:12:43 am »
the link was posted on the O-Board.  Here's an excerpt:
Gap's holiday campaign extends beyond traditional advertising. Beginning December 1, a special holiday CD featuring the exclusive recording of "Put a Little Love in Your Heart," will be available for $2 at all Gap U.S. stores. In addition to Al Green, Melissa Etheridge, and Kelly Rowland, the recording features Vanessa Carlton, Stephan Jenkins, Ginuwine, Musiq, Heather Headley and Gavin DeGraw. All profits from the sale of the enhanced CD, which also includes a video of Gap's new TV commercial, will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The Boys & Girls Clubs of America offer programs and services to promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.

Completely Off-Topic / AIM Virus
« on: November 14, 2003, 07:31:22 pm »
I posted this on the other board as well.  I wanna give you all a heads up.
There is a virus going around that's being passed through instant messenger. If you see a link in your buddies info that says "woaaa...look what i found, click here" and nothing else is in the box, DO NOT CLICK! I fell for it today and it took over my info and I lost my buddy list and away messages. Uninstalling and redownloading AIM will not work. I do not know the fix to this virus, so if anyone does please post and help out people who have the virus. thanks!

I just saw a blip in tv that they're remaking the movie, which was a movie of the book.  Hilary Duff, Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Ashton Kutcher, and Spencer Breslin are in it.  And it doesn't look all that great.  Why can't they just leave things alone sometimes...I hate remakes....

Completely Off-Topic / thought this was cool, it made me smile
« on: October 27, 2003, 09:31:30 pm »
I miss being little, back when I could watch cartoons all morning with a big bowl of sugar, with some cereal sprinkled on top. If I did that now, I'd be Tweak.

I miss not caring that I had more sand in my shorts than was left in the sandbox when I was done playing.

I miss my greatest addiction being costume jewelry, and yes, the New Kids on the Block. Now...if coffee left track marks, I'd never get a job.

I miss life before everything got so complicated, with sex, thongs and rock n' roll. Back when we played house (boys got dragged into it, with the promise that they could be the daddy...but instead got to be the dog. That's how it worked.) We all wanted a baby, until we got older. Now it's scary as hell.

I miss the time when flirting was inconcievable, when you knew that if you smacked a boy on the arm you liked him, and if he jammed crayons up his nose and pretended to be a walrus to make you laugh, he liked you too.

I miss the times when all that had to happen for it to be a good day was that my mom let me scratch off a lottery ticket, whether I won anything or not it was still fun. Now I understand that the likelihood of me winning the lottery is right up there with having a picture taken with Bigfoot and Nessie while being struck by lightning.

I miss the thrill of cheap candy, like a box of Nerds. Now I *am* one.

Not being 5 anymore does have it's advantages, though. I'm not longer such a klutz, back then if I were lost my parents would have put me on a Band-aid box instead of a milk carton. I was the Band-aid poster child. I have the scars to prove it.

I can use big words now and actually understand them (a certain President hasn't reached that particular milestone yet.)

I can drink. Coffee, of course ;)

I'm old enough to swear and know all the good ones. And maybe not even get in trouble for it.

Things got all complicated somehow, I'm not sure how, but I suspect it began the day I was born.

But I still think I'd like a guy that would jam crayons up his nose for me.

i "borrowed" this from my friend Diana, thanks Dee!

I'm really excited for the new season!  Sasha Cohen looks fabulous, even if she is skating to Swan Lake, and Jenny Kirk has improved sooo much!  I'm not surprised Michelle Kwan still hasn't gone pro, she won't quit until she gets Olympic Gold, and who can blame her?  The new scoring system is in place after that scanals in the pairs judging at the Olympics.  I think it's good but rather confusing, it will take a while to get used to it.  Am I the only skating fan here?

he everyone,
i was at the Oneonta concert last april and the opening band for nessa was and awesome group Twin-A.  Tonight we hosted Fuel for fall weekend, and had Twin-A back for the opener.  When they came out the lead singer John said "it's great to be back in Oneonta, and look! there's no piano on the stage this time!"  He was joking of course, because back in april the Steinway was already on stage and they didn't have much room to move around.  I talked to them after the show and laughed about it some more with John and George (the drummer) and they said that Vanessa was awesome last year.  Everyone who was there definately agreed!

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Vanessa Kareoke!
« on: July 24, 2003, 08:07:34 pm »
So, my summer job is orientation leader at my college and as part of the two day program we have the students do some kareoke if they want.  It's really fun and everyone gets into it.  So tonight i was looking through the book and I was like "there must be some Vanessa in here"  and lo and behold there was ATM!  So i grabbed a couple other orientation leaders and we totally jammed out, it was great!  and the audience was totally into it too which was even better!  I was glad to see more Nessa fans!

So, has anyone else done Vanessa kareoke at any point?

Completely Off-Topic / Thought You Might Get A Kick out Of This
« on: May 11, 2003, 09:32:20 pm »
I was just talking to my friend on AIM and I was rolling on the floor laughing when he said this...

Friend: So, you would know this
me: what?
Friend: Vanessa Carlton, she's what, 19/20?
me: She's 22, her birthday is coming up soon I think
Friend: HHmmmmm.......
me: she's dating Stephen Jenkins from Third Eye Blind so get that idea right out of your head, lol
Friend: I could take him
me: ROFLMFAO

The funny part is that he doesn't really listen to her music, he just thinks she's cute.  And she totally is, but I thought it was hilarious whan he said it.  Maybe it's just me....
