Completely Off-Topic / Some Help
« on: January 02, 2005, 08:41:39 am »
Well, a couple of months ago after my Grandfather had his surgery I thought he was going to get better.

A month ago I found out the cancer had come back.

The doctors said with high doses of Chemo he had 6 months.

2 weeks later those 6 months turned to 3 months.

A week later it was day by day.

My Grandfather died the day before Christmas Eve. My life feels so empty now without him. I can't sleep because I saw him die in front of me and its scary seeing that over and over again every day.

What pisses me off is that the Mortuary gave us the smallest room of all, when we booked and paid for the Chapel room. They didn't expect us to have so many people, they opened another but that still didn't help. The cards with the prayers were also wrong. And they rushed us during the burial.

My grandfather was the kindest man, I loved him so much, I miss him more than anything.

I'm very close to all my family, and this is the first person that I've known and loved very much who has died. It has been very hard and I cry every day but my tears don't help ease my pain.

How did you get through life after the loss of a loved one?

I dont know if I'll be coming back, I do want to read what you all have said, and I know some of you might pray for my grandfather.

This romantic musical epic is about a mysterious masked figure, Erik (Butler), who roams the undergrounds of 19th century Paris, centering his activity around (or under) the Opera Populaire, where he tutors a beautiful young soprano, Christine (Rossum), who goes on to upstage the city's most famous opera singer, Carlotta (Driver)   . The Phantom thinks he's found love, until Christine's childhood boyfriend, Vicomte de Chagny (Wilson) shows up.

I can't wait to see this film, I was listening to some of the songs and they are really great.  Looks like a very well done musical.

Show Summary:

A primetime soap with a truly contemporary take on "happily every after," this new hour- long drama takes a darkly comedic look at suburbia, where the secret lives of housewives aren't always what they seem.

Looking down on her friends and family isn't a way of life for Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong) … it's a way of death. One day, in her perfect house, in the loveliest of suburbs, Mary Alice ended it all. Now she's taking us into the lives of her family, friends and neighbors, commenting from her elevated P.O.V.

Her small circle of girlfriends are wondering why one of their own would do something so rash… and so messy. There's Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher), the divorcee and single mom who will go to extraordinary lengths for love; Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman), the ex-career woman who traded the boardroom for boredom, mixed with moments of sheer panic as the mother of four unmanageable kids; Bree Van De Kamp (Marcia Cross), the Martha Stewart on steroids, whose family is about to mutiny; and Gabrielle Solis, the ex-model with everything she's every wanted – a rich husband, a big house – so what is she doing with John, the 17-year-old gardener (Jesse Metcalfe)? And there are her neighbors, including serial divorcee Edie Britt (Nicollette Sheridan), whose romantic conquests have everyone buzzing.

Then there are the men: Hunky new neighbor Mike Delfino (James Denton), a supposedly widowed plumber who has Susan and Edie vying for his attention; Rex Van De Kamp (Steven Culp), who's just told Bree he wants a divorce; Gabrielle's better half, Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira), who figures he bought his wife a $15,000 diamond necklace, so she should do whatever he tells her; as for Mary Alice's newly-widowed husband, Paul (Mark Moses), there must be a reason why he's acting so suspiciously – and why he's digging up the pool in the middle of the night!

From her unique vantage point, Mary Alice sees more now than she ever did alive, and she's planning to share all the delicious secrets that hide behind every neighbor's closed door in this seemingly perfect American suburb.

Marc Cherry is executive producer and writer. Michael Edelstein and Tom Spezialy are executive producers, and Charles Pratt Jr. is consulting producer of the series, from Touchstone Television.

My recruiter has been taking me to the Air Force Base to work out and she puts me in the Sauna (sp?) to shed some more pounds, and I'm on this crappy ass diet. I hate it.

On Friday, if all goes well at MEPS I am officially on the Delayed Entry Program!!! (DEP)  8)

I'm really excited! I'm just a bit scared because they are going to take my blood.

I'm planning on leaving in early July.

Wish me Luck!

Completely Off-Topic / Halloween Ideas!
« on: October 16, 2004, 08:47:52 pm »
1. Give away something other than candy. (Toothpicks, golf balls, bags of sand, etc.)

2. Wait behind the door until some people come. When they get near the door, jump out, wearing a costume, and holding a bag, and yell, "Trick or Treat!" Look at them, scratch your head, and act confused.

3. Fill a briefcase with marbles and crackers. Write on it, "Top Secret" in big letters. When trick-or-treaters come, look around suspiciously, say, "It's about time you got here," give them the briefcase, and quickly shut the door.

4. Get about 30 people to wait in your living room. When trick-or-treaters come to the door, say, "Come in." When they do, have everyone yell, "Surprise!" Act like it's a surprise party.

5. Get everyone who comes to the door to come in and see if they can figure out what's wrong with your dishwasher. Insist that it makes an unnatural "whirring" sound.

6. After you give them candy, hand the trick-or-treaters a bill.

7. Open the door dressed as a giant fish. Immediately collapse, and don't move or say anything until the trick-or-treaters go away.

8. When you answer the door, hold up one candy bar, throw it out into the street, and yell, "Crawl for it!"

9. When you answer the door, look at the trick-or-treaters, act shocked and scared, and start screaming your head off. Slam the door and run around the house, screaming until they go away.

10. Insist that the trick-or-treaters each do ten push-ups before you give them any candy.

11. Hand out menus to the trick-or-treaters and let them order their candy. Keep asking if anyone wants to see the wine list.

12. Get a catapult. Sit on your porch and catapult pumpkins at anyone who comes within 50 yards of your house.

13. When people come to the door, jump out a nearby window, crashing through the glass, and run as far away from your house as you can.

14. Answer the door dressed as a pilgrim. Stare at the trick-or-treaters for a moment, pretend to be confused, and start flipping through a calendar.

15. Instead of candy, give away coloured eggs. If anyone protests, explain that the eggs are the only thing you had left over from Easter.

16. Answer the door dressed as a dentist. Angrily give the trick-or-treaters a two-hour lecture on tooth decay.

17. Answer the door with a mouthful of M & M's and several half-eaten candy bars in your hands. Act surprised, and close the door. Open it again in a few seconds, and insist that you don't have any candy.

18. Hand out cigarettes and bottles of aspirin.

19. Put a crown on a pumpkin and put the pumpkin on a throne on your porch. Insist that all of the trick-or-treaters bow before the pumpkin.

20. Dress up like a bunny rabbit. Yell and curse from the moment you open the door, and angrily throw the candy at the trick-or-treaters. Slam the door when you're finished.

Polls / Brown Eyes or Blue Eyes?
« on: October 14, 2004, 03:58:31 pm »
Are you a brown eyes? Or are you a Blue (green/hazel you fit in this category!) Eyes?

In My psyche class we watched a video on a little experiment done to children and adults where Blue eyes were bad and Brown eyes were the superior one's.

 :roflmao:

I loved it!

It was so funny even the adults acted like the children, one man said, "The blue eyes are so inconsiderate! Why are they even in the room?"

A young boy with blue eyes was not allowed to drink from the water fountain because he had blue eyes and the water fountain was for the Brown Eyes only, and he got a cup, filled it with some tap water, drank it and threw the cup away.

The teacher said, "Oh my god! Blue eyes are so wasteful! A brown eyes would never do that."

Another woman also said, "I have two nephew's and one has brown eyes and the other has blue eyes. My nephew with blue eyes is lazy, he doesn't listen, he's not very active or involved in things. But my brown eye'd nephew, he's very athletic, smart, very involved with many things he's just very different from my blue eye'd nephew in a good way."

I just wanted to do a little poll on this.

I didn't know it would have the same impact on the adults as it did on the children.  :?

*If you are married to a brown eyed person, and/or have brown eyed offspring you are superior!  8)
