yes, over 2 years old, but I thought this was cool

she had like a full crew with her haha, an upright bassist, a guitarist, and a drum/percussionist.

(edit: not sure why this was moved to the Live Shows section, as we're talking about Vanessa's possible inclusion in studio recordings of an album)

I know a lot of you are all like "who is "Ari" ???????"
well, hopefully this thread can help a little.

Ari Ingber

I found some cool info,

believe it or not, Ari not only worked on Rabbits on the Run with Vanessa, but also Heroes & Thieves.
Ari, along with his brother Josh were "group vocalists" on the song More Than This.

Ari & his brother, Josh make up the band "The Upwelling" http://theupwelling.com/
Their debut album entitled "An American Stranger" was produced by Stephan Jenkins.

Vanessa is also credited in the album as a "performer" (whatever that means, maybe someone can ask her which songs she performed on???) http://www.answers.com/topic/an-american-stranger

Ari also co-wrote the song "About to Break" from Third Eye Blind's "Ursa Major" album.

I found this all very interesting.
I need to get my hands on that album... especially knowing that Vanessa had some small part in it.
Seriously, this happened in 2009, how did we not know about this?

they're all amazing though

 Fairweather Friends lyrics!!!

------------------

Say you see through the folly
But you do it for the fame
I'm fighting the jet stream
Drinkin' cheap wine on airplanes

You're in L.A., not Chicago
Key under mat, I walk the dog, order in, home alone

Found your letter on a full moon Sunday night
On your knees in ink you offered a ring, a real life
Pour the vodka, and it dulls sharp knives
Beautiful poetry, but the letter isn't for me

And you didn't really mean it
So I don't have to believe it
If you didn't mean to do it
And magical thinking gets us by

You sing for the after show, those candy colored lips
But your age is showing, and you gotta work harder for it
It's always easier with freshman
I'm just as clever, it's not technically cheating if

I didn't really mean it
So you don't have to believe it
If I didn't mean to do it
And magical thinking gets us by

And you're fragile as porcelain
fragile as porcelain

If you didn't really mean it
And I don't have to believe it
You didn't mean to do it
Then magical thinking gets us by

Gotta get by
Gotta get by
Whatever get us by

We're fair-weather friends

Entertainment - Movies / TV / Books / Spinal Tap
« on: December 08, 2007, 10:29:09 pm »
so yeah...
I remember hearing Vanessa talk about this movie during the recording of Rinse @ the Mercury Lounge (12/4/2000)

and I was at my friends apartment and he's like what movie should we watch, and started listing them.
so naturally I freaked out when he said Spinal Tap.

and we ended up watching it.
---

so anyway
yeah this movie was pretty good =)
and yeah it is kinda funny.

it's a "rockumentary" about a band called "Spinal Tap" ...and it has its funny moments, but it isn't a comedy.

I approve =)
pretty awesome.

....I wonder if Vanessa ever got to watch the whole thing... lol...
but yeah don't watch it if you're sleepy... cause it has some moments where its kinda slow...

Entertainment - Movies / TV / Books / The Mist

...
I hope I'm saving some lives here when I say NEVER SEE THIS MOVIE!
it's just sooo bad.

I'm sorry, this is one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
I almost left in the middle of it several times.

it's just terrible in every way possible.

the acting was terrible, the monsters were dumb, the story was ridiculous and not believable at all, the ending was just the worst thing that could've possibly happened. made the movie even more depressing than it already was by being so bad.
most of the movie took place in a grocery store, and i wanted to personally kill all of the characters
I'm sorry...
just, please don't see this movie.

29
I uploaded a clip.
http://finalfantasy4.googlepages.com/VanessaCarlton-untitleddemogottisway.mp3

here's the lyrics:

Sometimes it seems that it's alright
It's just a dream
--
And I know that it's been hard for us
But I never seem to give you up
--
It's always been hard it seems
--
(In the sea)
And now it's just so easy

I thought it would be fun if we try to like fill in words of our own or something..
I donno...

I hope Vanessa finishes the song, it sounds lovely :D

so of course I asked if he would please post them, and he said just give me some time..
