Live Shows / Re: 07/08/11 Largo at the Coronet - Los Angeles, CA
« on: June 28, 2011, 06:14:26 am »
I was thinking about this last night after meeting Vanessa for the first time (and how I felt rude and she was perfectly nice).  If someone is negative all the time, that energy is out there.  It comes off you in waves and people don't want to be around it, even if they don't know exactly why they can't put their finger on why they may not like someone.  Some people are super sensitive to energies. So, if Vanessa is sensitive to the energies around us in this world, which she may very well be based on things she has said, things she reads, etc.  then she may respond to negative energies she feels from people by being dismissive, and possible rude (and other times, I'm sure she's just tired because I know I'm no angel when I haven't slept well).  This is just my theory.  Very new-agey I know.  But whatever you put out there in the universe it comes back to in threes, so if you want to be negative all the time, then negative things will keep on happening.
Very true Sara, I am definitely very sensitive to energies. To the point where I don't even need to be looking at a person, just be physically near them, and I can often feel the "vibe" they're giving off. More so with negative energies, they are so easy to detect.
And what you said about thinking negative, and therefore negative things happening... I can think of a few people in my life, and that just sums them up! It's kinda like the Law of Attraction - your thoughts influence your world; the things you think about are attracted into you life. So if you always things negatively, negative things will be attracted to you.

Live Shows / Re: 6/26/2011: Joe's Pub - New York, NY (review)
« on: June 28, 2011, 06:05:41 am »
From watching this show, one thing I have noticed is she doesn't really interact with the audience like she used to do. There'll just be a sentence from her before she plays the song.

Yeh, I know :(
I'm almost finished watching the livestream video, and I'm kinda disappointed in her lack of talking to the audience. I love her little rambles before/after each song. I really missed the "this is dedicated to everyone who's in a relationship disapproved of by either your mother or the government" before Who's To Say - like, really, how can she even play that song without its dedication?? lol

Is there sheet music for Fools Like Me?
or even the more stripped-down version Vanessa's been doing at her recent shows?

Live Shows / Re: Who needs a poster?
« on: June 27, 2011, 05:13:21 pm »
I want one, I love the illustration so much, but im worried about being too expensive. Like...20$ just for the poster plus the shipping costs. And I want to buy the vinyl as well so...u_u  (maybe the vinyl will come with the same illustration as the poster?) Idk, put me in the list tho, yes.

Could you guys scan (or whtever metod) the poster in Higggghhh quality and post it? I know it will not be the same but im so in love with it.
I actually think this is a very good point. If the vinyl is going to be released as a very limited edition, maybe it will have different artwork? thoughts?

Thanks for doing this, I really appreciate it, more than you can imagine. I also love that the thread title is who 'needs' a poster, like it's a necessity for us Nessaholics, which is kind of is.
It certainly is a necessity! lol
I am so grateful and touched that Katia and everyone on the boards is helping to make this happen.
It will be so nice to have just a tiny part of the show at home with us, since we were unable to attend.
I even think I'm going to get mine framed (excessive?... probably yes!)
Thanks again Katia, you are an amazingly kind person :D

Ooh I really like the Quartz Pendant Necklace! Pretty. Wish they came in silver though, gold never suits me :-\
Thanks for the find and share.

Like sarab, I sometimes feel very depressed. I've also suffered from quite bad anxiety, and in general don't deal very well when stressed (avoidance of the issue, smoking, a glass or two (or three) of wine).
This topic has actually made me think about how I've been living like this for years, and just haven't felt "right" or haven't felt fully "here" for a long time - I'm not sure if that makes sense?
What you guys have said about the medications your on, and how much better it makes you feel, makes me think maybe there's something that could make me not feel like that? I just don't know how to have that conversation with my doctor, you know?
Were your doctors/psychologists helpful? How did you start that conversation?

Here are videos I took tonight (they're on facebook, but I set the privacy to 'everyone' and sorry for the shitty quality) --

Learning to Fly/Carousel

Ahh, now I know what the "Learning to Fly" intro is! Very nice.
Thanks for the vids

I will do it for you but not til CA shows when I get home. I don't think I have time to get to the post office and or travel with them. I'll see if Katia can now.

Sent from my HERO200 using Tapatalk

That would be so good if you (or anyone lol) could manage to get one.
I understand, like you said, that it'd hard to travel with (although I don't think they're that big? they look about 12" wide) and also the hassle of getting to a post office and stuff.
But yeh, I would love to have one, and be so grateful!
Let me know :)

Other Musicians / City and Colour
« on: June 25, 2011, 07:33:40 pm »
There didn't seem to be a thread for this band/artist, so thought I'd start one...

City and Colour is a project by Canadian musician Dallas Green (originally from Alexisonfire).
His debut album "Sometimes" is amazing! And the latest album "Little Hell" is just as impressive.
Check it out :)
