Its 10 pm, Beth is brushing her hair in the mirror humming to herself. As she pins her hair up into a pony, she looks into her bedroom window staring outside smiling. As she closes the curtains and sits on her bed, she takes out a book and starts reading it. The house was quiet and a few hours has past by. Beth was getting tired, so she looked at the time yarning softly. With a sigh of relief she sets the book on her dresser, takes off the lamp, and falls asleep on her bed slowly.
Its now 12:01 am., noises are coming from inside of the kitchen that wakes beth up shockingly. She turns on her lamp, gets out of her bed quietly , and walks out of the room to go check it out. As soon as she turn on the kitchen lights, she sees nothing there. She walks around quietly and sees her 7 year old son, charlie, is standing in the hallway.
"Charlie, whats the matter" she said softly
He was just standing there with tears in his eyes.
"Did you do your assignment " she asked.
"Some of it" he said softly.
"Can i see it" she asked.
He ran down the hall and into the other room slamming the door. Beth was worried, so she opened the room door and hears him laughing. He turns around and gives her an angry face as if he is mad at her.
"Charlie, come on its time for you to get back into bed", she said walking towards him.
"NO!, he screamed loudly spitting in her face.
Beth grabbed his arm tightly putting him back in bed, but he pushed her down and ran out of the room. She got up from the floor angrily yelling at him.
"Come back here!" she shouted running through the hall behind him.
"NO!" he said angrily throwing objects at her.
SHe falls back on the floor and gets up slowly in pain. He turns around to look at his mom, as he began to walk slowly towards her, a tear falls from his eyes.
"Whats the matter with you" she said shaking him angrily.
"WHATS THE MATTER WITH YOU", She shakes him harder.
He wipes the tear from his eye and stares at his mom smiling beginning to speak .
"Mom" he said softly.
"what" she asked.
"I am going to kill you" he said softly staring at her.
She slaps him hard and tells him not to speak like that again. He stares at her angrily and begins to smile a little.
"Mommy", he said. "What" she asked furiously.
"I love you" he said. She puts her head down and begins to apologize hugging him tightly.
"I love you too, son" she said smiling back at him.
"Now lets get you back into bed".
She picks him up gently and begins walking towards his bedroom, as she opens the door, she tucks him back into bed.
"I dont want you ever playing games like this with me again, charlie" she said tucking him in .
She turns out his lights and walks out of the room looking back him. As she was about to shut the door , he begins to speak to her.
"Mommy" he said looking at her.
"Yes, charlie" she asked standing with a crack in the door.
"It wasn't a game" he said.
She shuts the door and goes back to bed.
Its 8 am, Beth is making breakfast in the kitchen. As she sits on the table drinking her hot coffee and begans reading a newspaper, charlie walks in with his cat.
"Charlie, put her down, and come eat breakfast" she commanded.
"She wants to play with me" he said smiling.
Beth walks towards charlie and takes the cat out of his hands letting her outside.
"Mommy i am sorry about last night" he said .
"Its ok, just dont let it happen again" she said putting his breakfast on the table.
"It wont, i promise" staring at her with angry eyes.
"Mommy, she wants to play" he said eating his breakfast on the table.
"Well the cat can play outside", she smiled. "Now eat your breakfast, you're gonna be late for school"
Charlie is now finished with his breakfast and begans walking back and forth in the hallway mumbling to himself. Beth is in the bathroom getting ready for work when she hears someone knocks on the door. She opens it and sees charlie standing there.
"Yes son?" she asked.
"I don't wanna go to school today" he cried.
"You are going to school and thats final, now go wait for me in the living room" she said. "i'll be right out".
As she shuts the door, charlie begans to knocks on the door again.
"Yes?" she said annoyed.
"Mommy, i didnt finish my assignment last night, mrs. peterson is going to punish me" he cried.
"You deserve a little punishment these days, don't you think", she laughed a little.
She shuts the door and continues getting ready for work. Charlie walks away and goes outside to play with his cat. As he picks her up , he goes back inside and locks himself in the room.
"Charlie lets go!" she shouted opening the bathroom door.
"I'm not going to school MOMMY!" he shouted angrily from his room.
"Come out of there now son " she said knocking on his door.
His cat makes a loud noise and scratches on the door. Beth is furious that he has the cat back in the house, so she bangs on his door loudly as she drops her purse.
"Come on charlie! I'm going to be late for work!" she shouted.
"Mrs. peterson is going to punish me" he said loudly. "No she wont, i'll talk to her"
He opens the door slowly and she steps on the cat as it runs quickly out of the room. Charlie smiles at her a bit and begins to speak with a crack in the door.
"Can i finish my assignment now" he asked softly.
"We dont have time", she said. He opens the door widely and runs into the hall staring at her.
"Mommy we have plenty of time" he said walking back towards her slowly.
Charlie is now sitting in the classroom with the other students as mrs peterson show's up.
"Take out your assignments children"she said erasing the chalk board. Charlie walks up to mrs peterson and begins to speak her.
"Mrs, peterson" he said.
Yes, charlie" she smiled
"I did my assignment today, now you dont have to punish me" he said softly.
"And where is your assignment", she laughed rubbing his cheek.
"Buried " he said.
"Why is that" she asked.
"Because i was afraid i would get a bad grade" he said.
"I'd like to see your homework tomorrow charlie" she smiled.
She walks charlie back to his desk and began erasing the board again. Its now 4p.m and school is over . As charlie gets off of the school bus running in the backyard, he gets a sand shovel and starts digging in the ground, as the phone rang, he throws the shovel down, and runs inside to go anwser it.
"Hello", he answered
"Hi charlie, this is your aunt hilda, where is your mother?
"I am disappointed at mommy" he said.
"why charlie? his aunt asked over the phone.
"Because she made me have a late assignment" he said.
"well where is she sweetheart" She asked.
"She's busy now, but you can see her at school tomorrow" he stuttered.
"I dont wanna see her at school, maybe i'll just come over" she said.
"Well if you do that, then you will have to help me with tommorrow's assignment" he smiled.
"Sure no problem baby, i'll be on my way"
Charlie hangs up the phone and runs back outside and starts digging again. As soon as he puts the shovel back down , he pulls out his mom who was slashed open covered in blood and dirt. He drags her in the house, runs back into his room, jumps on the bed and starts laughing out loudly.
