I heard Nolita Fairytale in Toys R Us a few weeks ago! I was happily surprised! :)

Kind of reminds me of a watered down version of Grimes (Claire Boucher), which isn't a bad thing.  Oddly melodic.

Of course it looks cheap, so does hands on me and carousel. Vanessa is never going to have a high budget music video again. I'm disappointed, but I like it for the sole reason that i like she let us in a little bit. But yeah, I wasn't even excited for this. I don't care about videos, give me new music.

Did anyone see this article?  I don't know how true it is, or if she was being sarcastic, but she says electronic dance-pop is next... not sure how I feel about that.  I hope she doesn't pull a Nelly Furtado!

Hear the Bells is so beautiful, it made me tear up!! I love that new run during the 2nd chorus, and the bridge is just as amazing as ever. Gah, love that song.

It just dawned on me (hadn't really thought about it before) that the lyric, "stars through a window, will they ever know this madness" is probably talking about stars/planets within other galaxies and wondering whether they have life, madness of the heart, etc, too. Makes me like the song even more if that's true, it is one of those things I wonder about when I look at the stars too :)

That was awesome, and the lighting was perfect! I think she did so well b/c she knew that woman was listening. Her smile at the end, I think she was really touched by it :)

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Recognition for Carousel or ROTR

A Facebook memorial page was started relating to people who died that had gone to my high school, and I thought it was neat that somebody posted a link to the Carousel video and said they thought it would be a good song to remember their lost friends and classmates. It was a girl who posted the video and she mentioned that she heard it on the Today Show. I thought that was nice, and the person who started the FB page commented that it was a beautiful and perfect song.  :)

Spring Street is my fav song off H&T but it seems like she must not really like it b/c she never plays it live. I don't think she EVER has, but I could be wrong... so that would be my 1st choice, then "Wanted" and possibly "Superhero"

I'm (sort of) working on a transcription sort of blending the piano and guitar so it sounds close to the record when played. So far I came up with.

E is the first chord, I toggle between octaves on the bottom hand and play the melody starting out with B, E, Ab and then a trill between A and Ab.

The verse chords start with A, B, E

I play by ear so I don't really know how to explain it very well. If I figure out the whole thing and record it I'll post it, but I'm really lazy lately so that might not be anytime soon!

That guy can write! Great review, Vanessa should read it :)

My comment to her: Golly Jessica, what did Vanessa Carlton ever do to you to make you hate her so? Maybe your first boyfriend called out her name in his sleep, or perhaps something worse!

She's B.I.T.C.H!

Yeah, the reviewer is awful. Why did they hire him if he cannot even write coherent thoughts.... "honest, to precious (??), to clumsy" that doesn't even make sense. Did he mean precocious?

The only lyrics that bother me are in "Get Good"
"It's been so long since powder soft serene" (makes no sense)

otherwise I like the lyrics!

I love The Dark Crystal and I can see that in some of the songs, definitely!

I love being married, but I also like the song and I think it's true for some people! I personally try not to associate marriage with being owned or even as something religious, I just try to think of it as two people committing to each other in the most outward way they can and affirming it to the world. I can see, though, how some people might not be able to get past the less romantic aspects of marriage historically and so it makes sense that they wouldn't want to pin themselves to those dogmas. It's a good song and presents a different view, which is actually not that uncommon anymore.

Chelsea is funny, she will probably say something like, "So, I heard that you're bisexual now. Well, I guess it's the hip thing to do!" =P
