General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / This Time and The One
« on: November 12, 2005, 06:35:33 pm »
I agree they do seem pretty similar when comparing all of Vanessa's songs. However, I don't think it's a bad kind of similar, it's just clearly her style of playing music.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / playing 'Best Behaviour'
« on: November 12, 2005, 06:31:43 pm »
I'm glad so many of you are enjoying my transcription of BB.  :) I really worked hard on it.

Milla, I'm not sure what you mean when you say there's no right hand part. When I play the song, I use both hands the whole time. I probably didn't make it clear enough which hands to use. I'm still learning the rules of sheet music. Can you be more specific about which part you are confused about? Maybe I can tell you how I play it.

PianoPlayer12, I'd love to hear your recording, that would be so cool. :)

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / One Year Anniversary of Harmonium

My memory of picking up Harmonium last year is still so clear. It was such a happy moment.  :)

and could anyone tell me where the simplified version of 'All I Ask' is? not Phu's version, but the other simplified version.

Actually, for a long time I've been thinking about transcribing my own version of "All I Ask" but I've yet to do it. I suppose I should if you guys want it.

65
Ooooh, tough question.

Technical Best Piano: Morning Sting, All I Ask, Papa
Technical Best Voice: White Houses, Ordinary Day

Like Lays potato chips, I can't pick just one. (actually I don't like Lays. Bad joke! LOL)

I'm surprised a lot of you guys picked ATM for technical best piano, that song really isn't that difficult or special IMO.

BTW, would it be possible for someone to re-upload the live HAWBTW? The link is expired.

Entertainment - Movies / TV / Books / what is the most recent movie u saw?
« on: September 25, 2005, 11:29:13 am »
I saw Corpse Bride last night. I liked it. The animation was beautiful just like I knew it would be, especially the final scene. Honestly, I don't think it was as good as The Nightmare Before Christmas, but if it had more songs, (and better ones at that) they would be even. And I think they could have taken the story with the villain a bit further. But other than that I loved all the characters and the story.

Here's Best Behavior, sorry for the delay.

I don't think I can make a midi of it, but if anyone wants the finale file, just PM me, or maybe I'll post it on Yousendit or something.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Vanessa Carlton & "umm"
« on: September 20, 2005, 05:23:11 pm »
Well, she's usually playing some piano improvisations and talking at the same time. You gotta give her some credit for that. I can barely concentrate on singing while I'm playing a song, much less talk and improvise. I'm not nearly as good as Vanessa though...

ooooomg my cousin and i are *OBSESSED* with that movie. i've seen the play lots of times and always loved it and then the movie came out... the soundtrack i love love love and the movie i have pretty much memorized. hahaha ive watched it like 50 times in the past week, we're so obsessed.   !

p.s. hey did anyone notice emmy rossum's mouth is always open and her eyes are always searching? hehe i think its funny. i loved her as christine.

Me too! I've pretty much been listening to the soundtrack nonstop for a while now... I understand obsessed! I prefer most of the movie versions of the songs over the original versions, but not always.

I did notice that she always has that kind of expression, but I never really paid attention to how often her mouth was open. I noticed that she never speaks at full level, she's always whispering unless she's singing. lol it's like she's afraid the phantom is eavesdropping on her all the time. I still love her though.

I just want to share my love of PotO too. I saw it on Broadway over the summer, it was amazing! I didn't see the movie until after that. I love them both. Does anyone know what awards the movie won, if any?

I like Collide. Does he have any other good songs? And what was so bad about him? The link is broken.

73
Oh, cool! I'd never been to that site before! Looks interesting. :)

BTW, I've finished Best Behavior, I just need to make it into images. Unfortunately it's kinda long...

74
I've finished transcribing Best Behavior, but I'd really like to perfect it before I put it up. Is there anyone who's experienced in this who can help me polish it?

Thanks for the links phu! That index page is great. This thread is so big!

My best behavior is different, so I'll probably post my version if anyone is interested. :)

I be interested!
Alright, I'm working on it! :)
But I don't really think I can make midis and stuff like that. I don't know how. :(
