It's a little bit more difficult to be discrete with a smartphone than it is a camera since you can turn off the back display, but yeah I doubt they'd take your phone. I actually meant House of Blues in Chicago did patdowns, but Park West always has security roaming and looking for cameras.

Park West in Chicago and The Rave here in Milwaukee are pretty notorious for pat downs and wanding. They took my pen once at The Rave.

I love how this argument has been going on for the better part of 9 years. lol
At the end of the day, every musician, actor, athlete, public figure, etc. is a person. You have the same right to ask the person next to you in the elevator at work for an autograph as you do a public figure. Sure, a public figure has more incentive to please you for their own reputation, but it's not something that you should go into a show expecting to get an autograph or get chatted up unless it is something pre-arranged such as a meet and greet or advertised signing.
It'd be like you leaving work every day and having 20 or 30 people lined up trying to tell you how great of a job you did and expecting you to talk to each and every one of them. Some days that is cool, but I'm sure some days you just want to go home, or have other responsibilities you need to tend to first.
I've wanted for many celebrities in my day, sometimes you're waiting 5 minutes, sometimes you wait 2 hours. Sometimes they come out, sometimes they don't. It depends on what is going on. Often times they have friends/family/etc. who have been invited to the venue or are on the bus and that stuff takes priority. It is what it is. It's kind of a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation. If they stop and sign for 5-7 people, the other people who run over that don't get signatures are mad. If they don't sign for everyone to keep it consistent, that can easily be taken the wrong way, too.
Is V the most charismatic celebrity I've ever met? No. I'd say in general she is cordial. She appreciates her fans, but she isn't the type of person who is generally effusive in her appreciation. I've met other artists like Lenka and Brandi Carlile who start conversations with you and actually ask you if you want to take pictures with them, but that's just how they are.
I guess to me, it is what it is. People say Ryan Braun is a jerk because he doesn't sign a lot for free. I met him and he was a really nice guy. Same with Prince Fielder. It is disappointing when people have poor experiences with another person, especially a public figure, but without knowing why that experience happened typically I feel it is best to withhold judgment.

This kind of thing happens all the time. It could be several things, maybe they couldn't get the album mass produced how they wanted in time, maybe they wanted to release CD and vinyl on the same day, but most likely they just want more time to promote the album. It is what it is, we will all survive.

Aw, I just left a job that was within a block walk of Starbucks! In the winter I'd walk there for lunch just to get out of the office.

Happy 9 year anniversary BnN! I find it funny to think of all the things that have changed in 9 years. Blogs such as LiveJournal were huge, now not so much. Cell phones went from being bricks to being computers you carry in your hand. Facebook, twitter, youtube, and myspace changed how people communicated.
Be not Nobody came out the same day as Big Tymers Hood Rich. I went to my local Sam Goody (lol, Sam Goody) and bought both. BnN dominated my CD player and the rest was history. Every once in a while I'll look back through photo albums, or random threads and just smile.
While V and her music will always have a special place in my heart I think the thing which has most impacted me and my life is this community. From day one there were so many good people I connected and grew with. I went from being someone who was almost painfully shy to the awesome person I am today. I know a lot of you weren't around back in 2002, but this community started out of love for V and continued to grow and blossom due to love for each other. I really hope that with this upcoming release and subsequent tour some of the newer peeps get to experience that love.
I can't say enough about people like superscientific, loveplasticlove, kaysha, eclv, HappyZen, and vulch (to name a few) and the experiences I've shared with them. We've all kind of grown up into adults together, I find it kind of cool to think about. I could go through and name so many more people like Wonkies, Holly, neos etc. etc. etc. but I really don't want to leave anyone out so I'll stop the naming.
I swear, to this day one of the best nights of my life was 11/11/2007, V at Crocodile Cafe in Seattle. We had a ball that night. This quote from V always reminds me of that night:
"How blissfully great would it be if we could all decide in this very moment that we need no more than what we have. Just our drink in our hand. Our friend next to us. The music in our ears. The roof over our heads, and to not crave any more means in theory that we are just blissfully happy. I work on that every day."
Okay, I'm done being sappy now, but thanks everyone.
