Naaah. Imports are generally pretty expensive, even if they have the same tracklisting as the domestic version.

Japanese CDs are very expensive, which doesn't seem to make much sense because it seems to encourage them to buy imports rather than domestic.  But that's why Japanese CDs usually include bonus tracks as a way to encourage someone to buy them instead.  At least that's how it's been explained to me.

Erm, I'd figure it's because they have to ship it over the US or wherever you're purchasing it from. Maybe there's a tax... and there's shipping costs... that sort of thing?

What I mean is that Japanese-made CDs are expensive in Japan.  My guess is that there is some kind of excise tax on them there, but no so on imported CDs.  It doesn't make much sense, but I believe that even when you export a Japanese-made CD to the US, you still have to pay that tax.

I was probably the one who did that.  :)

Here in the US, so-called "parallel imports"(same disc only import) were considered illegal.  Dunno if they still are.  Basically, the greedy-ass US record companies didn't want ANY of their market share going to imported discs, even though they would be more expensive and sell a negligible amount here.

Whatever.
