Work out Playlist
« on: April 23, 2011, 09:00:12 am »
Anyone listen to Vanessa Carlton songs while working out? I'm working on putting together a VC songs only playlist for when I'm on the Elliptical machine. I need some ideas.

If you have a playlist, I ask that you please post it here :-)

For me it's a glance
And a smile on your face
A touch of your hands
An honest embrace - VC, Home

Are you referring to a cross trainer? Im not entirely sure what an elliptical machine is...

Anyway, I haven't got an exact playlist but I find NF to be a great song on the treadmill as you can easily stay in time with the beat. Also, the outro of Home and bridge of FWF are quite upbeat and inspiring to run to. I tend to stay away from the quieter or more instrumental songs as you can never hear them over the annoying gym radio station.

Id love to know what you eventually put in a playlist, I might get some inspiration!

Hope that helps a little bit

I have a 'Gym' playlist, but I don't have any Vanessa tracks on it. It's mostly made up music by Pharrell/N.E.R.D., Kanye West, B.o.B. and the like...hip-hop, generally.  :-\

I would think Private Radio would work well, and White Houses.  Those are the only two that come to mind right away.  OH, Paint it Black and Wanted might work as well.  But no, I do not have a gym play list.

Thanks for your feedback, this is the list I have drafted so far for a 30 minute workout.

I'll let you know when I try it out, how it turns out:
  • Private Radio
  • Fools Like Me
  • White Houses
  • San Francisco
  • Paint it Black
  • Nolita Fairytale
  • Wanted
  • Home

The only Nessa songs I use are:
Paint it Black
White Houses
Private Radio

Vanessa doesn't often use fast-paced drums in her songs, so she's not much of a 'workout artist'. I tend to use Florence and the Machine and more mainstream artists. C:
