-----------------------------
SpAcEyLiZ930: Hi
BionicleDwarf: hi
SpAcEyLiZ930: I am michelle ellis' friend
SpAcEyLiZ930: ok...i have to do a research paper in english about the music industry
SpAcEyLiZ930: and she told me about you...and i was wondering if i could interview you
BionicleDwarf: yes of course =)
SpAcEyLiZ930: Michelle said you were an aspiring artist...could you explain that
BionicleDwarf: yes
BionicleDwarf: aspiring meaning that some day i hope to perform shows for people and share my music with the world
SpAcEyLiZ930: right...so do you know what you what to be
SpAcEyLiZ930: have your own band?
BionicleDwarf: right now i'm a singer/song writer
BionicleDwarf: i'm solo i use to be in a band, i play piano and guitar
SpAcEyLiZ930: do you hope to have a band of your own?
BionicleDwarf: it would be nice, yes
SpAcEyLiZ930: Are you involved with music a lot right now...like do you attend many concerts, etc.
BionicleDwarf: Right now i'm very much into music, I was recently hired as "Relationships Manager" for Rock The Vote's NYC chapter, what my position holds is maintaining music contacts and setting up events and such, i've also done PR work in the past. As for attending many concerts, i've seen my share
SpAcEyLiZ930: Who is your idol in music
BionicleDwarf: my main idol's are Vanessa Carlton and Gavin Rossdale, they are both phenominal musicians and very well talented
SpAcEyLiZ930: Have you ever used any music file sharing programs
BionicleDwarf: yes
SpAcEyLiZ930: Do you usually download your music or buy the CDs
BionicleDwarf: i buy a lot of cd's but if there's something live or rare and i can't get i'll download it
SpAcEyLiZ930: Do you believe that many people download music today for free
BionicleDwarf: i respect and support anyone who is musically involved
BionicleDwarf: yes
SpAcEyLiZ930: Do you believe that file sharing will eventually destroy the music industry
BionicleDwarf: file sharing can definatly destroy the industry if it's not kept to a minimum. You can download servers like Kazaa and practically get any song you want, but ultimatly if someone really likes a song they're most likely going to go buy the album, so in a way file sharing may benefit at times.
SpAcEyLiZ930: So as a musician do you think file sharing is good to help get your music recognized...or does it hurt artists
BionicleDwarf: in ways i think it's good, yes
SpAcEyLiZ930: is there any way to minimize the use of downloading songs on file sharing programs
SpAcEyLiZ930: or do you believe that file sharing programs should still be able to be used by people today
BionicleDwarf: you can limit it by restricting the amount of downloads a person can do in a day, that would be 1 solution but then there's always the next person to come along and make a better program. I personally think that file sharing programs help a lot, the only problem is limitations
SpAcEyLiZ930: so you believe that file sharing helps artists...
BionicleDwarf: yes
SpAcEyLiZ930: Do you think file sharing is a way for people to hear your music
SpAcEyLiZ930: and that will help you in the future
BionicleDwarf: right now yes, there are many musicians who do not have cd's out yet and are trying to be heard, sites suchs as mp3.com help these artists become known and heard.
SpAcEyLiZ930: do you believe that only aspiring musicians should put their songs on file sharing programs
BionicleDwarf: no
SpAcEyLiZ930: ok
SpAcEyLiZ930: so you don't believe file sharing will hurt any artist in the future
BionicleDwarf: no in particularly
SpAcEyLiZ930: so you are all for file sharing except you believe there should be limitations on how many songs a person can download each day...right?
BionicleDwarf: yes
SpAcEyLiZ930: do you believe there is a way to limit the use of file sharing programs
BionicleDwarf: yes, the person who is programming the site for downloading would have to set that up, probably require a username and password etc..
SpAcEyLiZ930: well thank you for your time
BionicleDwarf: no problem
BionicleDwarf: have a great day
SpAcEyLiZ930: you too
Just thouhght i'de share with all of you.
