and then again on page 118 under "People Are Talking About Music" it has a pic of her, i think the one from the OD single, the one with the flower in her hair, and underneath it says: "if my last record was wearing a dress: this record is wearing a tank top and jeans," says Vanessa Carlton with a laugh. "That's kind of a cool way to sum it up." With the help of her boyfriend Stephan Jenkins, Vanessa says she got less fancy and more spontaneous on Harmonium (A & M), her second album, by recording in more of a rock vein. And lyrically, Vanessa says, she's matured: "You kind of grow out of the writing-in-your-diary stage. There's a period in a woman's life when you go through all these transitions at once, and I'm just coming out of that"
