Similarities
« on: January 17, 2005, 10:08:19 pm »
I'm new here so I'm a bit nervous about posting my stuff, but here goes...
(This one's called Similarities)

It’s so hard to say yes
But it’s harder to refuse
When you’re sitting at your pedestal
Hammering away those blues

And now I want to know everything
And I know that it’s not right
But I swear I can fix it
Always keeping you in sight

You can look away from me
And not change the way you sing
Well I can always change my wording
And mean the exact same thing

It’s easy to paint it over
And it’s easy to cross it out
Then you did your thing for me
And I stood completely wowed

Now she’s coming on back home
And she’s canceling the bets
I know I’ll never move on
And I’ll retrace your steps

And you can look away from me
And not change the way you sing
Well I can always change my wording
And mean the exact same thing

One day I’ll be content
And she’ll be walking away
But you will chase that melody
‘Cause I knew you wouldn’t stay

But in the meantime
While I can still hear your sound
I’ll alter it a little
And maybe you’ll be proud

And you can look away from me
And not change the way you sing
Well I can always change my wording
And mean the exact same thing

Don’t you dare give up on me
‘Cause I can prove my worth
And you’ll be able to recognize
The similarities between the words
Don't count the days but make make the days count

Don't be nervous.  You are a really talented writer.  But yes, I know, it's very vulnerable to share poems.  Anyways, I really really like this poem.  Rhyme and rhythm are my favorites in poems and this was is really throught provoking as well.
"If only I could get into that corner of your head."
