I wrote a song with this title four years ago, but I completely reworked it last night. It is no longer fiction and is really, really important to me. It felt very good to write
Winter solstice, spring and fall
A better life, a greater call
I can feel the summer's fading
And crickets chirp outside here
I stand poised, always waiting
For your attention to divide

It's easy to think what haunts me
Could dessimate the dreams of home
That I may never see
Trapped inside a snow globe world
We twist and turn, we spin and swirl
I watch you as you flutter past
Your visions moving much too fast
And lives apart as we may be

Crystals form around my window
Then wash away into the spring
And time has made me tamer
And old feelings start to fade
My stubborn heart removes the blame
From choices you once made
And suddenly I smile again
Picturing what might have been
