Although I have to admit the Hannah Montana merchandising segment is a HUGE market, I don't think Hannah Montana's message is "Buy my stuff." Instead, I really see it as "Follow your dreams." Hannah Montana seems to me to be a source of positive encouragement wrapped up in an entertaining (and at times, plumb farcical) show. Her songs, though very "Disney Channel" sounding, are musically quite clever, and the lyrics are generally encouraging. I personally take the character to be a positive, albeit humanly imperfect, roll model. How is that evil?
But thanks for the input!
