Would you hire an Image Consultant?

Would you consider hiring an Image Consultant (also known as personal stylist, personal shopper, fashion stylist etc.) to make over your wardrobe and recommend the best colours and styles of clothes and accessories (also possibly makeup and hair styles) to suit you and your body shape, colouring & lifestyle?

(I'm asking because I will be a certified Image Consultant in a few months and I am just curious about what people think of the industry and services. I haven't seen one myself but the study is interesting, challenging, in-depth and fun.)

i do have a good taste in clothing and fashion, i also make mistakes in it.

given that i am an actor model, i probably will have to hire one later down the road when my name gets more known, but i would rather it be a partnership in the sense that ultimately i would make the final desision.

Nah, The best thing to do is find women who have a personality or a taste of men like yourself and take them to the mall.  It's basically a Don Won approach.

I already know what kind of stuff I should wear if I want to attract the women I am attracted to personality wise.  Of course that all varies.  But I can dress myself, thank you.

I voted for "I wouldn't because it's expensive and/or I don't have the time".

It never hurts to have a bit of expert advice.

The problem is alot of people say I look italian, so I'm afraid by the time they are done I'll look like someone out of the "Godfather" , and other times people think I'm french and I'll end up looking like Nepolean Bonaparte or something. geesh  :wink:

Yeah, the image they make doesn't just depend on you but also them!  I once received a haircut from a transexual at Supercuts in downtown San Francisco and man did I look stupid!  If I would have grown boobs and started to wear makeup it might of looked better, but that is not in any of my short term plans at the moment.  My boob job doesn't come for another 50 or so odd years.   :?

i just need to start sending stuff out everywhere.
making more copies of my headshots and i have a huge list of places.

Oh, that's awful. Glad you're not discouraged though. Unfortunately being scammed is part of the entertainment business. My "manager" and I became close friends (or so I thought) and then straight after I lent her money she moved house and seemingly disappeared off the face of the planet. So for now I'm trusting only myself with my musical endeavors (and money). Oh man, I have stories. There was even a guy who pretended to own radio stations... (when he said he was 18 years old it kinda gave it away...HA!) I must be doing ok though, I have been asked to record a song for a charity CD here in Australia and also asked to be on another compilation for a record company in California (hmmm, hope that's not a scam...lol)

yes, making over someone to look how YOU want to look yourself is NEVER a good idea!!
