Steal This Look - Vanessa Carlton: "White Houses"When it came to inspiration for Vanessa Carlton's dance video for "White Houses," the singer-songwriter owed more to Mikhail Baryshnikov than Michael Jackson. "Right now, dancing in videos is all masculine, but this is feminine and fluid," Carlton says. Her boyfriend, Third Eye Blind's Stephan Jenkins, kept her on her toes. "I'm kind of a broken ballerina, and Stephan always wanted to see me dance," she says. "I felt like I was a 9-year-old again!" Well, not quite—she felt more like her age of 24 after trying to re-create the arabesque position. "It's definitely more painful to do now, but I humbly attempted it," she says.
