A Clockwork Orange

by Anthony Burgess - has anyone read it?

I finished it the other day - very very good, but i'm still not sure if i like the ending or not.

When it was first published, the US editor cut off the final chapter that Burgess had, however it was published in full for the rest of the world. In 1986 it was published in the US in full - 21 chapters - which is what i read. the reason the last chapter was cut in the first place was because the US editor didn't think that it fit the rest of the novel - which i can see. but i also think that it serves some purpose - it does give some closure.

any thoughts on the ending from anyone? or the work as a whole?

I haven't seen the movie, from what i've heard it's pretty messed up, but then again so is the book. I highly suggest it to those who don't mind decoding slang :-P
