That movie really disappointed me.  It focused on the relationship between Carter and Cash--albeit quite inaccurately--and didn't even get into the interesting things regarding their relationship.  It showed how Cash had a problem with drugs and he couldn't get the approval of his father no matter how hard he tried...anything from his life that was congruent with the average, mainstream conventions of just another boring Hollywood film.

And while focusing on all that stuff, they were like, uhhhhhhhh...oh yeah, he played music sometimes too. :wink:

I wanted to see the life of one of the most creative, innovative and influential musicians of all time, not a script that was rejected by Days of Our Lives. :lol:

And it didn't help that I had to listen to River Phoenix's kid brother try to sing like Johnny Cash the whole time.  Vanessa could sound more like Cash!  That annoyed me.

I couldn't help but laugh at the casting of Tyler Hilton as Elvis though.  Next, they're going to cast The Veronicas as Simon and Garfunkel. :lol:

But, to each his own I guess.

I had suspected it before, but now it's official:  Reese Witherspoon is my favorite actress!

#1, she's from Tennessee, which always wins major points in my book,
#2, she's very versatile and always believable (at least in my opinion),
and #3, she just has this attraction when she's on the screen!

Reese's best performance was in Election.  She was perfect in that movie.  Although she isn't my favorite actress, I do agree she's got considerable talent (her hubby ain't too shabby either--probably better than her, actually).  I just wish Reese was a little bit better at picking scripts.  She's been in some crappy movies that don't allow her to utalize her full potential.

Yes, election was a great role for her.  And yes, I have seen her in some pretty weak stuff.  I think we've probably started seeing her in better stuff more often now, though.

King Kong is soo going to win Best Effects. I thought Brokeback Mt. was okay, but definitely not the best film of the year for me.

Good Night and Good Luck should win the best picture Oscar, but it most likely won't.  Then again, the only absolute shoe-in this year seems to be Phillup Seymor Hoffman for Best Actor.  I haven't heard anyone argue that assertion yet.

So, even though it's a long shot, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Good Night and Good Luck, and I wouldn't be too disappointed if Crash won either.

I agree.  And even though it was a dialogue driven film, the movie felt like it moved along so fast.  I only felt like I was in the theater for like 25 minutes when the end credits started rolling.

I often feel like writing has become a lost art nowadays.  All people want are flashy special effects and quick edits.  Dialogue driven movies are often considered slow and boring now, especially by our generation.  That is unfortunate. :cry:
