I don't really like Spring street, I think its the quality of Vanessa's voice- too low to have a nice texture maybe? Anyway its good, just not her best. Lol her best haha
Anyway also I must say, since putting Heroes and Thieves onto my MP3 player, the songs sound so different (I was listening to them on my crappy pc speakers) and I notice so many more layers- songs like the one and Come Undone are SOoo much more of my favs now. I have to disagree with what I said earlier on in a particular forum, More than this IS the perfect song, and Come Undone is awesome too. I am beginning to Really REALLY like this album.
Maag was right lol I guess I just needed to give it some time....

Anyways, best single- Home. As the others said, its radio and listener friendly. People can only tolerate types of music that sound instantly appealing and catchy.

it sounds very overplayed-radio-na-na-na-ish to me.

That makes a hit ;) And she needs another hit.

Um this would be a hit, since the beginning all she says is na na na na na na na ;)

Those are to much, na na na's lol.

They could release it in the spring, I see that happening. 'cause it's not a dark winter ballad, so it could catch on in the spring.

Spring Street already has nearly as many plays per week as Nolita Fairytale on AC. It's the obvious follow up.

Yep.

HAC would be "Hot Adult Contemporary" and that is where NF has it's strongest plays right now.

It's mainly the target audience. I believe these formats only follow suit in the United States.

CHR/Pop (Current Hit Radio - Popular) is targeted to a mixed crowd, but mainly 35 and under. Less talk, more songs.

Hot Adult Contemporary is sort of targeted towards post-teen, early to middle life adults. They play less of the hip hop and mainstream songs that are sort of "louder" and "crazier" and insert a fair bit of talking and shows along the lines of self help and stuff like that.

Adult Contemporary is targeted to around 35+ who want to hear a small mix of newer songs, but a main dose of older classics as well as some talk radio.

I think "Spring Street" would make an excellent single -- it's become my favorite song on the album and I think it follows the general formula for a song that would do well on the radio because it has that familiar chorus. Regardless of how you feel about all the "na na na" 's (doesn't bother me, personally), you can't say it's any worse than all the "it's alright" 's in Bon Jovi's "Who Says You Can't Go Home?", and that was a HUGE radio hit.

Beyond that, I like the way she tells a story, from setting out on her own to coming of age and eventually starting her own family, bringing things full circle. The final bit about walking her daughter down to Spring Street and holding hands, yeah it's sappy and sentimental, but it's very effective the way she sings it. I could see this song becoming quite popular among people who aren't aware Vanessa's done anything since "A Thousand Miles" and winning her over some new fans.

If not "Spring Street," then I think the title track, "Heroes and Thieves," or "Hands On Me" would make good singles.

While I love "Home," I'm not sure how it would do on the radio. I'm not sure it's a single. It's a truly lovely song, though, I think it would make an excellent wedding song.
