Well, plans have changed again for recording the new record.  It looks like we will be doing the new record at Stone Gossard's (Pearl Jam) studio Litho here in Seattle in June.  Not sure if Stone is on board or not for the Engineering yet.

The same place they recorded Staind - Dysfunction.
NOT WORTHY! lol

I knew they had recorded it in Seattle cause on the cover of "Bring The Noise" duet with Fred Durst in his little rap he mentions being in Seattle. The track ended up not making it on the Dysfunction CD tho. Which is good cause it would have been totally out of place.

Pearl Jam, Deftones, Staind.... The Protocol. KICKASS

The is a new on-line interview with Rob on artsy-noise.  The interview is also posted below.

The Protocol

Rob Leinbach - Vocals

Who are some of your musical influences?
Anything that doesn't suck - and that too.

Where did the name of your band come from?
I kept screwing up something on my e-mail and I kept getting an error message that said The Protocol. I guess it was a sign from God or Bill Gates or both.

How long have you guys been together?
As a full band, since March 2003.

What are your favorite bands now?
Gotta give credit to the locals: The Lights, Aveo, Nada Surf. Jeff loves Blonde Redhead and the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Space loves Crowded House. And Paul just like to rawk.

Which do you want more, a Moon Man or a Grammy?
A "raspberry"

If everything were to stop right now, what one thing would you, as a band like to be remembered for?
Putting on a fun, high energy live show.

Out of all the venues you've played which is your favorite?
The Crocodile

If you could change one thing about the music industry what would it be?
Sign everybody to a label, including us :)

What do you want people to get from your music?
A good time.

If you could be a member of one 80s band who would it be?
I always wanted to be that 6'8" guy from Midnight Oil.

If you weren't involved in music, what other careers would you pursue?
Our band is made up of a lawyer, a psychologist, a internet business development specialist and a Crowne Royal connosieur

Give two words to describe the other guys in your band.
Fu&(&ed Up.

Is there any song you hate to perform? If so, which one?
No.

What is your favorite song off of one of your CD?
We are recording our first full length this June - stay tuned.

How did you prepare for recording?
Buy lots of beer and use up vacation days.

What was the writing process used for this album?
We are currently songwriting for our upcoming debut album.

What was the hardest part of recording?
Being so involved in what you are doing that you lose outside perspective.

Are you signed to a label or are you DIYing it?
Not signed - know anyone . . . ? :)

Now that you have a cd out do you see an increase in your show attendance/fan base?
I'll let you know later this year .. .

Who would you like to tour with?
Sahara Hot Nights

If you had to do it all over what would you change?
I would have started playing music at an earlier age.

What advice would you give to younger/new musicians looking to record for the first time?
Write as many songs as you can. Some will suck, but there will be some gems in the end.

When you become famous what would you order to have in your dressing room?
a massage therapist

If you where trapped on a deserted island what one CD or record would you want with you?
Radiohead - OK Computer

If you could knock out anyone with your instrument who would it be?
George W.

Do you guys plan on expanding the area you play in to other states?
We are playing Portland on February 21st with No. 13 Baby at Berbati's Pan

What do you want on your Tombstone?
"He lived life to the fullest"

What's the most embarrassing CD you own?
Right Said Fred

What's your favorite show tune?
Oklahoma

What's your favorite children’s book?
Curious George

What's the worst band on the radio? Please narrow down to one.
I don't like to put down other musicians because I'm not worthy, so I'll couch in terms of "in my humble opinion," I don't like to listen to Good Charlotte

How's the local music scene?
Seattle has so many amazing bands right now. People need to realize this and start going to more shows

Any last words?
Rock fans - let's go back to the days when fans went absolutely crazy at live shows. No more standing there. Get naked and jump on stage.
