Yes where I live we have geese in the warmer part of the year. Very, very angry birds I must say.

Yes, here in Tennessee right down the road at a pond there are several, brownish-grey with black heads and white cheeks. They like Cheerios.

I live literally 2 minutes from the Peace Bridge into Canada.  I go to school with so many Canadians.  Half of my college is Canadian, they come here to go to what they call "Teacher's College" because Ontario only has a few.  From what I've heard  thus far, Canada, or at least Ontario and the more populated areas in the country seem to be significantly more liberal than the U.S.  We've found many differences in our education systems from discussions in class.  There are however, a great deal of similarities.  But yeah - lots of Canadians come here to shop... even though the dollar is about at par now, they always say things are cheaper here... perhaps that's because a lot of them live in Niagara Falls, not sure?

Nice how do you pronounce the name of it? I assume its French, but not sure.

As you would in French... so [tuʀtjɛʀ] or tour-tea-air if you like. I found an
audio example at the following link, but with a very English accent   Link

Peace

It's also strange that we have a one dollar coin, but you guys in the US have one dollar bills. You'd think that being so close together we'd have the same kind of money/same currency.

I'm visiting the US this summer, going to Vermont !  :D

Yes, we have one dollar coins.  Back in 1979, they released a dollar coin that was the same size as Canada's, but it was silver and reeded on the edges and easily confused for a quarter.  In 2000, they took a lesson from Canada and made the edges smooth and the color copper just like Canada's.  They haven't proven much more popular, though they are never taken for quarters.  Last year, they also borrowed an idea from the British and started minting inscriptions into the edge of the coin.

A lot of vending machines that take $5 bills will dispense $1 coins for change.

Also, in Canada, they get two more teaspoons of Coke in their 20-ounce Cokes!
