1. A Thousand Miles
2. Ordinary Day
3. White Houses
4. Heroes & Thieves
5. Nolita Fairytale
6. Who's To Say
7. Home
8. San Francisco
9. Pretty Baby
10. Hands On Me
11. Twilight
12. Private Radio

Pretty much what I expected.  TERRIBLE sequencing.  PR as the last track, following Twilight?  Sux.  Afterglow would have been a great ending track, think  about it.  You could easily compile this yourself....but why the f would you want to?

I agree. They pretty much ordered the tracks according to popularity.

o_O I like Hands on Me better than Pretty Baby, but each to their own I guess :P Are all those singles that they just put on the Greatest Hits CD?

I strongly doubt that Vanessa's back with A&M. Universal Music Group is composed of the largest collection of subsidiary record labels. This includes A&M Records (responsible for "Be Not Nobody" and "Harmonium"), as well as well as Universal Motown Republic/The Inc. (responsible for "Heroes & Thieves"). Basically, all three records were released by the same "parent company," so I imagine releasing a compilation album would be no problem. Also, I wouldn't count on seeing any unreleased/new material. "Icon" seems to be a new line or greatest hits records released for many artists by UMG. It's most likely just another way for the record labels to make money off of fans. It's likely that Vanessa had no say/control or even prior knowledge of its release.

Also, I went into FYE at the mall today and there were a ton of new "Icon" albums by tons of artists. No new material, just compilations of songs we already have.

I'd keep my eye on what's going on with "Rabbits on the Run." This is definitely exciting and I'm curious to see who releases this album... doesn't seem like there's been any official talk about an official record deal or who's releasing the new album.

Edit: I just noticed Martin's post. Now I feel dumb. =P

aw, don't feel dumb.  You are posting your thoughts and feelings unbiased by others and that is commendable!  Plus, being a newbie myself, I want to get as many posts out there and to voice my opinion whether or not others agree or if it's been said already. 8)

The chances of Vanessa going back to A&M are quite slim. She hated how they promoted Harmonium, so why would she go back?

Thanks for posting this topic  :)

Would loved to have seen a couple of unreleased tracks such as All I Ask, All Is Well, Superhero, Dark Carnival.

That said new album cover, hopefully a booklet inside, will almost certainly buy it.

Have you heard about this? (ICON)
« Reply #74 on: January 03, 2011, 08:28:10 pm »
Hey guys, first of all, happy new year!

I hope you all, nessaholics had a great start! And I also wish a happy new year for Vanessa! My wish for this year is to hear more of her, and most of all, of her music, so let's pray Rabbits On The Run comes out in 2011, right?

Anyway, I came across this info... It seems Vanessa is realeasing a new album, named ICON with 1 or 3 new songs, and all the other songs are compilations of her three previous albums... like, the best of Vanessa Carlton, or sth like that.

My question is, have you heard of this? Is this true? Does this has anything to do with ROTR?

For further info here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/Icon-Vanessa-Carlton/dp/B004D2GMV2

Anyway, best wishes! And see ya around!
But the truth is, you'll never need more than this
