They're better-suited to smaller venues?  Well, perfect then!  They're playing the Ryman in a few weeks, which is a 111-year-old 2362-seat venue most famous as the 1943-1974 (and occasionally today) home of the WSM Grand Ole Opry.  I may see if I can funnel some fundage between now and then.

I suggest ear plugs... for when Jack thinks creating feedback is a form of music.

I'm gonna see them this Thursday in Dallas TX. I didn't even know I was going until the phone call I received this evening. I think the Hives are still opening 4 them. I hope so anyway...
Dude, don't go!!! Me and Katia both agree, that's the worst band we had ever seen!
The highlight was when Meg sang one song, but the rest was painful to listen to!

what song did she sing??

I can't believe I never did post back on here and say how the concert at the Ryman was! 8O   Well, in a word, it wasn't. :x   The day I was going online to get the tickets, I found out that Jack had just gotten his hand broken in an auto accident and several month of healing and physical therapy later, they had to reschedule their entire tour, save for this show and one in Virginia Beach, which they weren't able to reschedule for some reason.  I was majorly upset, but promised I would take my very next opportunity to see them again.

Well, this past weekend I heard on the radio that they're going to be playing at the Snowden Grove Amphitheatre just outside Memphis at the end of July, so I already have my tickets on the way! :D I'm excited about this, so don't even think about ruining it for me; I don't care if you hate them - I think they're awesome! So there!

Anyway, that's enuff.  I just need to make sure I have fresh batteries in the little digital recorder I plan to have in my inside pocket and see if I can borrow Megan's RAZR so I get a few pictures.

I just wanted to write in again to say that I saw the White Stripes on the 31st.  And I didn't have to borrow a RAZR to take pictures because now I have my own.  But that's a different discussion.

Simply put, the White Stripes are AWESOME!!!!

I took several pictures and video clips - none are great but some are decent - but mostly I just stood and enjoyed it.  It was just such a dizzying experience - and that without the lights and the feedback!  They performed several tracks from their new album 'Icky Thump' as well as many older ones, including tracks from way on back there!  Meg sang "In The Cold Cold Night", and as soon as Jack had played the first measure of that one, the roof would've blown off the place (had there been a roof)!!  She really got into it, too!

There were very few songs they played that I'm not sure if I'd heard before, and there were very few songs they didn't play that I would've liked to hear.  The did play "Hotel Yorba", which was also a hell of a crowd pleaser.  Their closer was "De Ballit of De Boll Weevil".

My uncle went with me since his son (my cousin) had to drop out on me on short notice.  It didn't really matter to me as long as I got my $45 back for his ticket.  He said that Jack was an excellent guitar player and a great singer, to which I agree.  I guess if you don't like their sound, you don't like it, but myself, I'm surprised I made it home with both of my socks! :D
