Classical/pop mix. Do YOU like classical music?
« on: July 09, 2011, 09:55:27 am »
Okay, so I'm a big classical music fan, and I've been learning The Heart Asks Pleasure First ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zar6horZVQ ) and I thought I'd mix in Al Stewart's Year Of The Cat (amazing song)

So, tell me what you think.

Do you like classical music?
Thanks, James.

I don't mind listening to it though I don't KNOW it.  Back in the day, Victoria's Secret used to be a lot more classy.  When I was little my mom would drag me in there and the music they played was always classical and they used to sell the tapes (yes, tapes) in the store.  I now have them and used to love listening to them.  I don't eve know the composers or anything, but I do enjoy it.  I used to play violin I think that has something to do with my taste for it.

I like classical music.   Barber's adagio for strings makes me weep.

(It was also used in Platoon or so I am told) I love Beethoven's fur Elise and piano based classical pieces.
A friend of mine plays in a local community orchestra as a hobby.  It is great to see it performed liv 8)e.

Have you ever listened to Gabriela Montero? She is an amazing pianist from Venezuela who uses improvisation when playing classical pieces. I like listening to her albums while I am writing code.

I wouldn't say I go out of my way to listen to classical music, and i do believe that graded piano exams do slightly ruin it due to the sheer amount of work that you have to do to perfect them, but some pieces really resonate with me.

I saw a concert pianist on a cruise ship, and he was incredible, and some compositions are so wonderful, i love Vladimir Horowitz's interpretation of a lot of classical music and the art of composition.

I suppose I like a lot of stranger and modern 'classical pieces,' if you can class them as that- has anyone listened to Harlequin by Bohuslav Martinů? - amazing

I find classical music very inspiring.

I especially like Beethoven, Motzart, and Strauss.

Then theres the Trans-Siberian Orchestra which makes classical music rock... literally  :D

Yeah, I like it a lot.  Classical music is like great sex, the bigger the climax the better it is.  Even though I like it all, I really like the dramatic stuff.  If you crank it up and it feels like your house is surrounded by a tornado, hurricane, or you are in an earthquake, during the loud parts then it's the best.
