what's the difference between the sent box and the out box?

when you send a message, and it has not yet been read by the recipient, it is in the OUTBOX and you can go back and edit the message if you wish before the person reads it.
After the recipient has opened the message, it is moved to your SENTBOX folder where you can still view the message but not change it.

What happen if after writing and sending a PM you clear your out and in boxes before the person you sent the PM read it ? :?:

Then the reciever will not recieve it. It'll be like it was never sent.
