I think the only difference between This Way and 0304 is that the guitar isn't the main instrument in 0304. A lot of the songs on her new CD could've gotten away on This Way (which is friggin awesome).

I agree. Especially "2 Find U". I love that song.

I like 0304, no doubt about it- i just can't help thinking she is capable of such a great deal more, you know? 'This Way' is easily one of the best albums i own- produced just enough and with such amazing lyrics. And people liked that. Yes, 0304 is a very good album but i can't help thinking her talent is so completely and utterly wasted.

they did a special with Jewel on VH1 where they showed the work she did in the recording studio and she basically said that she did this album to show that she wasn't just a folk singer, and that she had other interests. I don't know, i just can't get passed the fact that she's so much better as a folk singer than what she's doing on her new album.

Exactly, her voice is just wasted. She can sounds so different on every single song on 'This Way', as a pop singer she's amazing but she could be so much better. I mean, how many pop singers produced and write their whole album? Barely any, i think its a waste of her time.

I don't believe that to be exactly true. Her voice is not wasted on 0304. She has so many great songs on 0304, she is not wasting her time, it is truly a good album. There are plenty of pop artists that write and produce their albums: Christina Aguilera, Samantha Mumba, Vanessa Carlton, Michelle Branch, Avril Lavigne, Christina Milian, and plenty other.

i think that 0304 was a very brave and bold move on jewels part becuase she had to know that most of her fans wouldn't exactly be thrilled by it, and i think it's cool that she branches out to all different kinds of music. for that i give her a lot of respect. i'm just hoping that she doesn't stay pop, because then that would be a true waste of talent

I wouldn't call all of them pop singers. And no, her voice isn't completely wasted but i think its a waste of her time to produce such an album when she is capable of so much more. She has one of the most powerful voices in music so i just can't see why she's producing this kind of music. Its not that i don't like it, because i do- i just think she's so much more talented than that.

Her voice isn't completely wasted, but I agree she has put it to better use. However, I love "Haunted". Her voice is awesome. I can't believe that she nailed that in one take! Proves how talented she really is.

Though I do like Intuition, despite the absolute horrendousness of the video, I have to go with Old Jewel. I adore all four of her albums. I don't mind expanding to new genres but i hope she still keeps her folk roots.

Haha, I love how you threw in the "2". I agree. It's okay to switch it up everyone once in a while, but....
