In 1996.  OMG...I'm so old.

Her new album is called So Called Chaos and comes out May 18.

We were listening to it one night on the way home from band practice and my friend's mom was all "Ew...that's sick"  and we didn't know why.  hahaha

lmao, at that time i was in fifth grade, and my friends and I would be singing those lyrics! my mother was not happy about that one :-P

Oh my God . . . JLP is such a great fucking album. Oh my God. How old was I in 1996? 6? No 5. My Mom listened/s to stuff like that. I pretty much grew up around Alanis, Third Eye Blind, Led Zeppelin, and Queen. I remember being on the bus, going to kindergarten one day, and these old (probably third graders, but hey - ten-year-olds are old as hell when you're five) girls started singing the beginning of "Ironic" and I remember thinking, "Hey. I know that song."

Yeah, but I can't believe no one's mentioned Hand in my Pocket or You Learn or Forgiven (which is one of my favourite Alanis songs of all time).

Not the Doctor and Wake Up are two of my faves from JLP.

As for SCC, I'm totally digging Eight Easy Steps and Doth I Protest Too Much.

Amazing record.

Not the Doctor

Guitar in that is awesome. The breathing in "Wake Up" is kind of disturbing. :\

I couldn't understand a single word she said back then, but it just rocked!
