I finally got all my desert tortoises together for a picture, lol. We have 8 of them. They're actually an endangered species because in the desert where they're from motorcyclists are killing them off. My grandparents used to have these neighbors who have a backyard and the tortoises came in and made a home their. They were nice and let them live there, and gave the eggs to people who wanted to have them. My brother had an incubator which he was trying to hatch quail eggs in and my grandpa was keeping an eye on them when we were gone one week. The eggs spoiled, so my grandpa replaced them with the tortoise eggs. You can imagine our shock when they hatched and we're the lil birds we were expecting! Lol. But they ended up being good pets, which is why we have so many now. They're all between 3-12 years old.
The lil devil in the middle is Y2K, then the ones around it are Marlin, Luther, Rebbecca Rose, Bill, Luther, Frank and Monica.

The reason he/she (you can't tell the sex till they're 10 years old) has a nicer shell than the others is it lives inside while the others live outside. It lives inside because it's evil and can't stay with the others. It murdered it's bro/sis, Eggbert, took a bite outta it's neck. 8O We're trying to find a home for it with someone who only wants to have only one turtle, lol.
Eggbert died, and also Chopper and Tiny Tim died from a cold :cry:
