David Blaine....
« on: September 08, 2003, 08:57:32 am »
I have never been a fan of magicians, don't liked being tricked or fooled I guess. But the illusions of David Blaine have always intrigued me. I like the 'street magic', up close and personal stuff, you know?

But these stunts of late.... frozen in a block of ice, buried alive, now living in a plexiglass box 40 ft above the ground? What is he thinking? Is anyone getting this?

Is this really a test of physical and mental endurance? Is this art?

I think it's boring. David go back to 'pick a card, any card.' Please.

What do you think?
Any of you London peeps actually seen any of this madness?

Some people just like pushing themselves further and further I guess. He probably makes a lot of money from it too. I imagine the pay isn't too bad for only 44 days work :)

My friend Siba went to see him and he waved to her, they also signalled for him to get up and he did. lol, loads of boys have been throwing eggs and things at him too- thats the English for you, he sure as hell wouldn't get that in America.

I don't know, i found all the other things interesting- he really is pushing human barriers but it scares me this one, i watched him going into the box and i just couldn't bare it so i had to switch over. In a way, i don't like it because i know there are SO many people in this world starving involuntarily and yet there is this huge deal about him voluntarily doing it, you know?

David blaine is amazing.  The guy is a nut case, but the stuff he does is incredible.  Some of his "tricks" are unexplainable.

Like, you know how most card tricks you're like "oh, they are cut cards" or "oh, theres some kind of mathematic reason why that works" or you figure hes got some other slight of hand illusion going.  Well some of the stuff he does I cannot find any logical explanation for.

Like, he does a card trick, and the card the guy names is in the marks shoe.  And it's not like david takes it out.  The MARK takes it out!  Of his own shoe!  How does a magician put a card in another mans shoe without him knowing?

FREAKY!

He claims these forzen in ice/hanging ina box stunts are actual physical challenges and not illusions.  Who knows if its true or not.

It's what magicians/swindlers/conmen/performers refer to the person you are performing the act/trick/scam/show on.  Not the casual observers, but the person directly involved.
