I've heard mixed things about this movie.  For example, she is a serial killer.  Well, in the movie they portray HER as the victim, not the men she killed or their families.  They didn't contact any of the families when doing their research either.  I know it's only based on the true story, but it doesn't seem that way since Charlize looks strikingly like real woman and they didn't bother to change names, etc.  I don't know, I probably won't see it in theaters, maybe a weekend rental.

I saw Monster today. It was really good. I see Nikki's point but yeah she had serious problems and they were mainly because of how she grew up and what happened to her. Which I guess, no matter how wrong what she did was kinda gives an insight as to why she did what she did. But I wonder who the consultant was, I mean like she was executed how did they know what went down, really?

I think she really did love Selby and it was really sad how it all went down but at least she didn't let her get in trouble too.

She was wacked out though, for real!!

Obviously there are two sides to every story, and this is just one particular side.  I don't want to make any firm judgements until I see the film myself.  I am not saying that she killed some of her victims unmotivated and some were not pre-meditated.  It just seems very one sided to not even attempt to try and consult the families.

How did they show the rape scene?  I heard it was quite graphic.

Yeah it showed her tied up, face bloody, and him ramming a like 2 foot pipe where a pipe doesn't really belong. The scene was very graphic. The man was sick!!

I was thinking about what you said about how they didn't even consult the families. But you know what? Yeah, they didn't deserve to die but they shouldn't have been looking for a hooker in the first place.

Not sure how i ruined it for you but ok, sorry.

It wasn't as bad as the reviews would lead you to believe, when people say it was so graphic--it's greatly exaggerated. There have been worse rape scenes in movies. The one in Showgirls was more graphic.

Anyway, I saw a screener of this movie and I didn't think the film was that good, but Charlize was incredible. I'm so glad she won the Oscar.

that's not a good part silly, haha

I thought it was great that Charlize thanked Christina in her speech. That was really sweet cause it's true she didn't get any praise.

I haven't seen "Showgirls" but I am sure there are other movies with better rape scenes out there. I think they showed just enough for this movie.
