That settles it.  Lee.  I thought the female version was spelled Leigh. Or is that the male version?

a boy can be named betty. who cares?
it doesn't matter, especially with middle names.

LMFAO!!! Betty!  Thats funny.  But if there are no Bettys in NY I don't think there are any male Bettys in this universe.  I just wondered about the Lee thing...

I know! How could we have plucked a name like that from the air!? It must've come from somewhere. Maybe Lee is her mother's maiden name but her real middle name is Janelle? I don't know...

Lee for a girl is spelled either Lee or Leigh. I know girls who's real names are spelled Lee and Leigh.

Who wants to sponsor a trip to the Library of Congress to find out? :D

Vanessa says her first lyrical compositions came to be when she was 16.  This would be consistent with the first of these cassettes being created in 1997.  The other three were created in 1998, and all were copyrighted in 1998.  If I were single and in a travelling mood, I would be glad to go to D. C. and find out more about these cassettes, but as it is, I would be glad to help someone else from our organization take a look.  It has been suggested that the demo tape that most of us fans have ("Little Mary", "Meggie Sue", "Devil Dance", &c.) is actually a copy of one of these volumes.  Who knows?  But I'm serious:  There is a sleeping treasury from a young Vanessa Lee Carlton stowed away in our nation's greatest stacks.

Does anyone know much about the Library of Congress?  Has anyone here visited it?  Would it be possible to go in a view these materials (they are listed as cassettes) and report on them, or make "research copies"?

What I find disturbingly peculiar is that this information came out over a year ago and only now is anyone talking about it.  So, who's going to Washington for us? :D
