Who wants to sponsor a trip to the Library of Congress to find out?
Vanessa says her first lyrical compositions came to be when she was 16. This would be consistent with the first of these cassettes being created in 1997. The other three were created in 1998, and all were copyrighted in 1998. If I were single and in a travelling mood, I would be glad to go to D. C. and find out more about these cassettes, but as it is, I would be glad to help someone else from our organization take a look. It has been suggested that the demo tape that most of us fans have ("Little Mary", "Meggie Sue", "Devil Dance", &c.) is actually a copy of one of these volumes. Who knows? But I'm serious: There is a sleeping treasury from a young Vanessa Lee Carlton stowed away in our nation's greatest stacks.
