Finally, after waiting three weeks (plus!) the school newspaper finally came out.
Now people know my name and my game.
I took some pix and I dont think you can see the writing, so out of the kindness of my heart, I'll type what it says.
*ahem*
here goes.
On a cool October evening the enemy surrounded Junior Amanda-Lynette Diaz. Yet, she walked onto the field confidently with her weapon of choice in her hand, a lacrosse stick. As she got closer to the group of girls at Pennekamp she realized she didn't know anybody, but she didn't feel like an outsider because they all bonded in the love for the sport, lacrosse.
"When I first met the girls I was nervous," Diaz said. "But there are no problems at all; it's just like I go to Costa with them."
Diaz took advantage of an offer open to all students to come out and play with the Mira Costa girls' lacrosse team. However, she was the only one to venture across enemy lines.
"I met the people and I really like them," said Diaz. "I stayed with the team the whole year because I knew everyone."
Although Diaz had never played lacrosse, she instantly fell in love with it.
"I didn't like softball or basketball, but I wanted to be involved in a sport," she said. "I wanted to try something new and thats why I liked lacrosse."
Even though she entered the team as a beginner, Diaz looks to make a future out of playing lacrosse. She hopes that with her hard work she can, at the very least, play in college.
"Some of the schools I'm considering, Colorado State University, Baylor University, and Seattle University, have teams," said Diaz. "I'm hoping that I can get scouted next year and earn a scholarship."
