Just depends on who you're getting it from. And that's a typo, it's really 86 kb/s      .

I was using the number pad on the side of the keyboard. Next time I'll just use the ones of the top.

Well, it varies, at first it was 98 kb/s (Hence the 498 kb/s), then 106 kb/s, then for some reason it dropped down to 25 kb/s just now, which means I'm uploading more than downloading, the upload is 74 kb/s.

Shit, I wish I did have something that went 498 kb/s. What's that, T3?

I'd assume so.  I'm almost always uploading more than I'm downloading :?

I know what you mean. Kill Bill is 86% done, but I hope it's real..one thing about Kazaa Lite is that they'll let you preview it.

By the way, what are you trying to download?

512K DSL or half a T1 will five you up to 512.  The dsl is about 80 a month and half a T1 is about 500 a month but you get 25 IP addresses which are useless unless you are running email servers or webpages

I think you are confusing bits and bytes. Network capacity is always measured in bits whereas download speeds and hard drives always measure things in bits, with 1024 bytes being 1 kilobyte in local storage and 1000 bytes being 1 kilobyte in network calculations So, assuming 512 downstream, that would be (512kbit/sec)/8=64 kbytes/sec., which is 64000/1024=62.5 kbit/second by local storage standards.

BTW, a half T-1 (2 d channels, 12 B channels) is (64kbit/sec)*12=768 kbit/sec or 96 kbyte/sec network/93.75 kbyte/sec local. A full T-1 is comprised of two delta channels and twenty four bearer channels, which is 24*64=1,536 kbit/sec network, or 1.535 mbit/sec network, 1.5mbit/sec local.

My home connection is capped at 3mbit/sec network downstream, which is 366.210938 kbyte/sec local.

Well, 512 dsl is measured in network kilobits/sec. I know Kazaa measures in local kilobytes. That was my whole point.

My home connection is Comcast cable.
